What are the costs these days and do you still have to put down a deposit?

Just wondering whether it's easier for him to do it from his side or if I should do it here.

Your Dad can do his own visa application in SA - no need for you to do it or pay a deposit. Go to http://www.dubaivisa.net/southafrica/ You only need to give a letter of invitation & a copy of your visa (or your husband, if he sponsors you) Only if hy flies with Emirates/SAA It is sooo much easier than standing in long rows and paying big deposits (and getting it back again afterwards) We had a few guests use this service and they all say the service is very good and efficient.

Apparently the deposit is only Dhs. 1000 now rather than Dhs. 2000. If you can try and book his air ticket through Emirates here in Dubai then Dnata or Emirates themselves can arrange the visa for you. Makes the process much simpler.
