Hello ladies,

does anyone know who I should contact to report an internet scam? Or if there is indeed any point in doing so?
Just got the MOST outrageous email sent asking me for over $2400 (ususal story, got mugged, no money, gotta get home, will pay you back yadda yadda yadda). I mean come on... Cannot help but be worried for the poor mugs out there who might fall for it.
Any advice?

no point imo , it's not a new thing, these scams go round and round and round and there will always be mugs in the world who fall for them, you can't save them all. If you want to do some good try finding the Armani guy, the bloke with the gammy arm or the guy walking round with the colostomy tea bag and report them to the police here!

Thanks ladies, the email mentions a company he supposedly works for, his address - in Scotland - and asks for a Western Union transfer.

I got an email from an aquiantace the other day for hte same - i know she wouldn't send that and someone has hacked her account - i just emailed her and told her so that hopefully she can email all her contacts. You could try western union (if that#s where the money was being asked to be sent to)

If they are not posing as being from a company then you can only contact the police really. :)
