Hello there,
I am trying to find more details about the housing in Jumeirah Golf Estates? Is it a good community to live in? Have many houses been occupied? How is it for families with kids? I've heard there is no supermarket yet. Where do the residents go for quick shopping? We are looking at houses and they seem really nice on the net... will be moving to Dubai by summer and interested in this area... or can you suggest a similar community around the same locales... Thank you

There is a jogging track around the complete perimeter of JGE which is 8 kilometres. There are meant to be play parks in each community but we do not have one yet but the park is finished . We have never had any problems with deliveries , getting taxis etc as most people are familiar with the area now . It helped that the big golf tournament , the Race to Dubai , has been here since 2009 so taxis drivers knew if it for years before the villas were handed over. The golf club is the community hub. It also has a country club attached with gym , yoga studios , swimming pool etc. They have lots of events / things for children - movie nights / Halloween parties / Christmas fairs / quiz nights to name a few. Sorry no idea about the school run as we don't have children. It is really easy to get into and out of the community , not much traffic and very good connections via Al Fay road which seems to have been built with growth in mind ! So the only bottle necks will be the one's that everyone faces beyond the community . Outside of rush hour it takes about 20 minutes to MOE and 25 minutes to Dubai Mall so I find it really easy to get around . No problems with the cricket stadium that I have noticed. Just shout if you have any specific questions about the different communities I am happy to help.

Thanks for the detailed reply Nickyb! It does sound lovely. I've seen some property listings at Dubizzle in Lime Tree and they look great. Are there sandspits/ play areas around the houses? Jogging tracks? And is there a community club? Are you able to easily get food home deliveries and the likes to come over? How is your school run from out of the area? I see on the map that this area is quite close to the cricket stadium. Does it cause traffic issues on match days?

Hi Sunsa2 We live in JGE , Lime Tree Valley . We moved in Dec 2013 so we were one of the first few residents ! We own here ( bought off plan in Jan 2007 so had a long wait !) so I maybe biased but none the other areas mentioned really compare. The golf courses are stunning so if you have a golf course view , especially on the Earth Course , it is a lovely back drop. We have a new CEO who joined last year who was MD at Wentworth and you can really see the difference in how the common areas and course are managed. Lime Tree is 121 villas and is c80 % occupied . It is full of young families and children. The other more established areas are Olive Point , Sienna Lakes and Whispering Pines . Flametree ridge is handing over now . Wildflower/ Sundials / Orange Lake are still being finished so no common landscaping yet . I would avoid Orange Lake as the JGE new offices are being built right in front of them so it will be a building site for sometime. Wildflower is progressing fast but still a real building site . The nearest shopping centre is Maisem City Centre , about 5 mins outside the entrance but a local supermarket / restaurant is being built outside the entrance to Wildflower and it will be complete in September this year. It is about 5 /10 minutes walk from Lime Tree Valley. Any questions just let me know and I will try to help !

Don't always assume new is better, it all depends on the developer and in my opinion Emaar are one if not the best with regards to quality Victory Heights is gorgeous and some, not all villas have pools. ,I think it is semi family friendly but not as busy at the Ranches. You are close to Motor City which has coffee shops/supermarkets/easy access on Hessa Street to new Dubai etc http://www.justrentals.com/search/dubai/property/victory-heights/victory-heights(all)/ct/1/lc/32/sl/8030/fr/4 This may give you some idea Personally if I had 300k I would chose the Ranches  I can definitely second that, new is not always better, and if you are just settling in you don't really want to be having to deal with contractors and snagging lists!!!!!

Thank you Sarah. Our school will be Nord Anglia and housing budget is around 300k. Looking for 4 beds with private pool. Would Victory Heights be appropriate? We are definitely looking for newer houses. Meadows are too old! AR is the backup option :) There is a small new shopping mall on the Al Khail / SMBZR just opened recently. Has a Carrefour and various other shops. Mea'sim I think it's called. Close to both Golf Estates and Vic Heights.

Thank you I think a poster called Nath lives there, she may be able to give some advice More established and family friendly communities with local shops are The Springs/Meadows/Lakes Jumeriah Islands Arabian Ranches Victory Heights ( Although I don't think this has any shops) I imagine it depends on your housing budget and where the kids will go to school Emaar who are the developer for the first and third areas on my list are one of the best in terms of amenities/general tidiness/greenery/pools
