The reviews for the Danish version are outstanding but I have reservations about coping with the subtitles. Is the US version just as good.

If you liked The Killing (Danish version - it has to be), try Spiral next. It's a French police drama/thriller series (4 series in total) set in Paris. It's very gritty (swearing, gruesome) with very good storylines too. Since watching it I've had to tell everyone about it because it was SO good. Hope you give it a go and enjoy it as much as me!

I have seen the original and it is fantastic and I hate subtitles, but for that show it was worth persevering with them. I don't have volume one, my Mum took it back home, but I have volume two which you can borrow if you like.

Every review I have ever seen recommends the original over the U.S version and says it is worth reading the subtitles. I didn't find out until I had already started watching the U.S version which seams ok but I am in the process of nagging DH to let me buy the original although it does seam a lot more expensive but think it's longer.
