hi - i have a pet sitting company and one of the criteria that i select my pet sitters is love of animals.... we would be happy to help you - i have just taken on a lovely woman for the Ranches - she has a lot of experience with cats - has lots of her own and currently has 12+ kittens that she's fostering. If you would like a consultation with me, please do not hesitate to contact me
we pride ourselves on being friendly, caring and reliable. We put the animals first.
Thanks for the advices ladies.
I went to visit the Arabian Ranches Cattery and I was sad to see how small were the cages. Yes they are only pets but come on...
Am going to DKC this morning - let's see...
No its not ideal to put our pets in a cattery, but I do think its the safest choice. My cats had to go into a cattery last year for about 9 weeks, (due to relocating countries) I can suggest and recommend Dubai Kennels and Cattery, they were excellent and the cats were treated very well.
Many thanks for your comments ladies because I never thought of this aspect! (i.e leaving and not coming back for the cats - why would go through this hassle to just do that at the end? It's manipulative and kind of cruel).
I am a pet lover and these cats have been with me now for the past 9 years. They are my babies and it goes without saying that I will leave money for food/litter/vet if needed etc... (Of course!) and there will be regular communication as well... but I assumed this was a topic to be discussed in private with whomever showed genuine interest.
I am trying my best to find them a healthy environment, while I am away, and was indeed relying on some charitable and kind-hearted families...but who knows...

I was going to say, one assumes you're going to offer money for food, litter, emergency vet treatment if required and some monetary compensation. Sadly if you don't I don't think you'll get any takers, for fear of them being dumped with whoever offers to look after them. Sadly this has happened a LOT in the past and the poor person then ends up with animals, they don't want, can't keep, can't find homes for.
ETA: I'd probably also take a deposit off you, the equivalent of the cost of a cattery, just you make sure you are serious about coming back for them.
I think you will struggle to find someone unless you offer payment. I don't know why anyone would offer favours for free for a complete stranger, unless it's charity.

Hi AdventurerB,
I have already explored the route of our close friends and they either just had babies or already have pets...so unfortunately not a route with great hope for me :(
I also already tried the pet sitting service (dont remember the company though) and I have to say that I was not very impressed - both my cats were extremely distressed after 3 weeks spent with the russian lady who was coming supposedly 'every day'. I don't know how they select their sitters (criterias, experience) or what the sitters do in the absence of the owners, but I remember thinking 'Never again!'. Too difficult to monitor.
I was hoping to find on Expatwoman a family or a home who genuinely would like to try having pets, knowing that mines are already fully house trained and really cute ...
To any good soul out there... :)
Good afternoon,
I am desesperately looking for a temporary loving home for my 2 cats ( 9 years/7 years - male and female) :(( I have to go abroad for about 3 months and I don't want to leave them in a big cattery, lost in the middle of other creatures. I would rather leave them in a loving home where they can roam in and out.
Sooo...I was wondering if any of your ladies were considering getting a cat/2 cats (well mannered, affectionate, well educated, all meds taken care of) to keep you company.
We live in Arabian Ranches so anywhere around here would be ideal but not a must...
