I'm interested to know if you have/will have a salary review after one year? If so how much extra would you be looking at if you are happy with their work ect? couple of hundred dhs a month? then how about the next year and into the future. With our previous help I think we gave him 3 or 4 pay rises over a period of 10 years. Obviously you need to work for an incentive but an increase every year..........

our maid requested a 2k starting salary, I told her no and that we would start her on 1600 with a salary review after 6 months where we would increase to 1800 if she deserved it, I also told her that I *may* put her salary up to 2k on the signing of second year contract.... as it turns out she never got a payrise and she will be going home at the end of the first year and I will be finding someone else. Dont go to high to soon, if they know you wont raise again they have nothing to work towards. I always prefer giving bonuses rather then payrises tbh.

We have already given a pay rise after nearly a year, went from 1500 to 1700. However we will max out at 2000. Thats the top we feel is appropriate. Maybe just give a bit extra every couple of months here and there to say thankyou. I also get my maid phone cards ect as a thankyou. Maybe an alternative to cash but still useful?
