We're looking to buy a new mattress. I appreciate it's a personal preference thing re comfort, but was wondering if anyone has any great insights into getting a fabulous mattress here that won't also break the bank....

So far we've looked at SilentNight in HomesRUs and Debenhams, which is what we've had til now and are going to Intercoil tomorrow.

Are there any other places with good quality mattresses?

Has anyone been to the American bed shop on SZR? - we saw this for the first time as we drove along there today. We're looking to get a UK sized super-king, 180x200, so I think their sizes are probably different.

Hi, I would say Royal Rest mattress from UAE. Their mattress is so good in quality and comfort. I am using it for more than a year now. I still feel good and didn't notice any issues. The price is also affordable. You can buy mattress online in Dubai as well. https://www.royalrest.ae/mattress/

Hi! We are looking for a new mattress but do not want to buy something from the stores as it is all over-priced.. Does anyone know if any of the online mattress brands sell in Dubai?

Thanks for the directions. I will check them out. October maybe that store in the big villa is And So To Bed? They are on my list to look at the Vi-Spring beds. Glad you are still happy with your bed. It is a time consuming process mattress shopping.

I noticed today there's a mattress shop in one of the big villas on Beach Road - down the Jumeirah end on the beach side, fairly near Mercato - they appear to have a wide variety of different brands. No idea on prices though, I was just driving past. ETA: 6 months on we are extremely happy with our Intercoil mattress - apart from the fact it is extremely heavy so lifting it to tuck in the bottom sheet is a major workout. It also needs turning which is also a major feat, but comfort wise it's fab! edited by october on 08/04/2013

Take the turn off for Times Square and just keep going straight, there are a few down that road. Try Tempur too. The best thing I ever did was to purchase a Tempur mattress

Hi can you tell me what the American Mattress shop on SZR is near? I wasn't able to find it the other day and would like to check out their mattresses. TIA

So having spent a really fun afternoon rolling around Dubai on mattresses in front of strangers, we're going for an Intercoil with pillow topper, although I've since seen the post below re Restonic so will be trekking off there tomorrow to have a look before we (by 'we' I mean 'I') make a final decision. KingKoil were fab but way out of our price range. Ikea we didn't actually like very much. Silentnight is what we had last time and after 4 years use isn't overly comfy which is one of the reasons we're changing. [b'>Plus the guy in the sales area farted right by me [/b[b'>[b'>'>yesterday[/b'>[/b'> :\: Intercoil - we found a couple to be really comfortable on testing, and the most comfortable was the cheaper one of the two. Just hope it's as comfy when we actually sleep on it! Thanks for all the advice. edited by october on 11/08/2012 :-P hahahahaha that has just cracked me up - laughing so much - good reason not to buy from someone!!!

just to update, we finally got our bed back together and slept on our new mattress last night - it was heaven! So much so that I was almost tempted into a duvet day today, but had too much to do!

We spent quite a bit on our first mattress in Dubai, it was a vi-spring on sprung slats. After a few months we decided a King bed was too small for the master bedroom and moved it to the spare room and got another Super-King bed for our room with another vi-spring mattress on a divan base. Both are very comfortable. I was surprised when our first guest to visit said on his first day 'wow I've never slept on a bed so comfortable where did you get that mattress?' Many other guests have made similar comments. I will say I prefer the one on the sprung slats it seems to make the mattress slightly firmer, but am also happy with the one on the divan base. In the UK I have a Tempur mattress but must say whilst it is hugely comfortable, it is also very warm. It may be worth taking a trip to your home country where you may get better service selecting a mattress with a wider selection and more experienced staff, then you can order it when back in Dubai.

Thanks October and Noddy, very helpful info! We are quite happy to invest but buying a mattress is such a gamble and buying the most expensive one is just not a guarantee, so I am really hoping we will make the right choice. We have been 3 weeks in total into our new one and its killing us, literally! I just want to get rid and start over! Hope we are more lucky this time!

Just as a note, we did not intend to spend a ton of money on our new mattress a few years ago but....on reflection we realised that we spend so much time, in, on or around our bed that is is probably one of the most important investments we were likely to make. We settled on a King Koil one, worth every single dirham and as a previous poster said, climbing into our bed after travelling etc is when we realise we are home, so so comfortable. We got a sheet of plywood underneath as recommended and have a mattress protector on top. The better quality mattresses have a very long life expectancy so consider it very little to pay over a period of long time. Happy bouncing.

We bought an Intercoil mattress - it's actually one of the cheaper ones they sell too, but was the most comfortable for us, although I'm hoping that it's not like shoes - feel great in the shop but when you actually wear them they're uncomfortable! t has a mattress topper on both sides, so is unfortunately a lot deeper (34cm I think it was) so I am now sourcing extra deep sheets and mattress covers - not easy here in the UK where I am at the moment, so I should think impossible/expensive in Dubai! KingKoil has a smallish shop on the SZR road - along where all the car showrooms are - I can't remember which bit it's located in though as it all ran into a blur, but if you come off and cruise along you will find it. There is also another mattress shop along there which was closed when we tried to go. One of the things we learnt was that a lot of mattresses are not suitable for slatted beds, so we have also had to buy a piece of board (which Intercoil sell) to fit our bed size. They all seem to have a 5-7 working day delivery timeframe.

We have a Simmons mattress bought from Intercoil. Amazing. We missed it while on vacation. We had an orthopedic mattress from Marlin Furniture for a few years (they sold it to us along with the bed), it was great at first then went lumpy.

I cannot recommend Ikea or Silentnight. We have had Ikea beds here and in our holiday home, but they have all been ditched. Ikea mattresses are good sound mufflers for drum kits (when placed upright against doors or windows).

Have had Silentnight, Ikea, Intercoil, Restonic and King Koil. KK is the best of all after that Restonic is almost as nice as KK but quite a bit cheaper, don't recommend Intercoil at all and Silent Night is ok but short lifespan. Ikea divan was good value and actually very comfortable.

We find Ikea mattresses really uncomfortable, October. Tempur is a revelation after a lifetime of suffering with back-pain (which is back for me as I've been sleeping on an Ikea mattress for a month!).

great thanks ladies - lots of bed bouncing coming up today lol - I really hate lying on a mattress in a shop but it's got to be done! Great help - I'd love to be able to remember where I heard that Ikea mattresses weren't any good as that's on our list today now.

Vi spring from And-so-to-bed was on top of Which mattresses list. Not cheap but really really worth every penny. Apparently Beckham got his mattress from the same shop (of course the most expensive one) Also I've heard of the good quality of the reasonably priced Intercoil mattresses (google them)
