Moisturiser for dry skin, that doesn't make you sweat

I have very dry skin and consequently use really heavy face creams. However since moving to Dubai earlier this year, I find that lighter creams don't address the dryness enough and heavier ones make me sweat (and also cause black/whiteheads). Any suggestions for dry skin face cream for hot weather? Oh and if it has SPF that would be an added bonus!

Hi there, I also experience the same situation as yours. I am using Aquaphor Healing Ointment, a bit expensive but it works pretty well. Before I bought the product, I watch some reviews on YouTube, you can check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC7ws5W2WhE. If you want to download the review, try this tips/category-videopower-red/the-fastest-youtube-downloader/. I hope it works for you since we have different types of sensitivity and skin.

Dr. Hauschka is very light and I believe that they have creams with SPF in it too. But I'm not entirely sure tbh. The cleanser, moisturizer and creams are feather light and smell great (not overpowering if you are allergic to certain perfume smells and creams). The name sounds German but I've never actually read about its origins. Hope this helps.

For dry skin, olive oil + honey is good.Apply olive oil + honey before bath daily, you skin texture will improve and after one month try to get good moisturer.

Hi, I'm also having a very similar skin texture. My skin is extremely dry and flaky. I was in search of a good moisturizer for dry skin with UVA/UVB defense technology inorder to adjust to this hot climatic condition. Currently, as per the recommendation of my dermatologist, I'm using Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense SPF 50+ (https://www.cetaphil-me.com/en/products/moisturizers) and it is working in a much effective manner on my skin. It is hypoallergenic and helps to hydrate, replenish and retain moisture on our skin for a long period of time. The SPF 50+ formulation defends our skin against sunburn. Since this satisfies all the required needs, I would love to prefer and suggest this moisturizer for dry skin to you. Hope you feel better.

You might want to try layering on moisturising products instead of relying on one heavy cream to do the job. After cleansing use hydrating mist or toner (without alcohol), serum for dry skin or just natural oil, and then moisturiser for dry skin on top. You can make your own hydrating mist mixing rose water and glycerine. Jojoba oil is nice under moisturiser and doesn't clog pores for most people. For moisturiser The Body Shop Aloe soothing day cream is nice because its also alcohol and fragrance free. They also have a face lotion from the same range with SPF. When you say that heavier creams make your face sweat, do they also just sit on top of your skin and don't really get absorbed?

Lots of good ideas here, thank you. In the spirit of simplicity (and economy!) will first try the olive oil on face at night, and also coconut oil in the shower. Ladychoco - after putting on olive oil at night, do you moisturise at all in the morning? Chrissy23 - do you mean first cleanse and rise in the shower, then put on coconut oil, then finally rinse off? Yes, wash with your normal shower gel and rinse and then put some coconut oil in your hands and rub over your dry skin, you only need a bit and it is easily absorbed, then just rinse any excess off. Just be careful of spilling it in the shower as the bath/shower tray will get slippy! I get dry skin on my arms and legs and this works a treat. Hope you have success too.

I put an oil serum on under my moisturiser at night. Love this range... http://www.estellethild.com/category/skin-care/biodefense Alternatively you can mix a regular moisturiser with a few drops of essential oils for dry skin.

I used to have the same problem, now I rub a few drops of jojobo oil on my hands and pat it on my face. Works really well and doesn't make me sweat.

it depends on your skin type. Every night i put olive oil on my face and it results better than night creams..

I was about to recommend exactly the same one as Chrissy23 - I use the bodyshop Vitamin E one and really love it!

I too have dry skin but found that Clinique doesn't provide enough moisture. I use Bodyshop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream and it seems to be quite good..... the husband has started using it too! If you have dry skin on the body try using coconut oil in the shower, I rub a small amount into my skin after showering but whilst the shower is still running and it absorbs really well and leaves the skin lovely and soft.

I have very dry skin and the one moisturiser I come back to again and again is Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. You might want to try washing your face with bottled water. My face breaks out in raw, cracked red eczema if I try and wash with tap water. A humidifier in the house can help too

My skin has gotten dry lately and I started getting a lot of whiteheads as well. Only thing that helped my skin was this Korean brand cream, it's called Benton Snail Bee High Content steam cream + essence. Though it is targeted towards people with sensitive and acne prone skin, it worked so brilliantly for me that I ordered full size after trying out their samples. Anyway, if your skin is dry and you want to moisturise it without the grease, then you should look for steam creams in general. There are many brands out there and some might have SPF. Sorry, I can't give you additional names as the one stated above is the only one that I have tried so far. edited by Flames92 on 15/07/2014
