The only time i've ever been for a Moroccan bath was after i bought a Spa package off Groupon from the Emiraes Grand Hotel's spa. I loved it! I don;t remember what i paid, but it was well worth it. The spa was immaculate and everyone was really friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. When i first arrived i was given a robe and shown into my own shower room. I was instructed to undress & take a quick shower and then come out to the next room. i wash;t sure i wanted to get completely naked so i left on some underwear under my robe. The Morroccan Bath involved me laying on a soft towel covered table for five minutes while the room filled with steam and of course my underwear were immediately wet, but at least i felt like they protected my modesty. (all of which would go out the window soon enough) After i had five minutes to adjust to the heat, the masseuse offered me a bottle of cool water and then she proceeded to rub me down completely with Oils and lotions. Then she would let me lay for a minute and then she would rinse them off with soap and fresh water, then she would rub more oils and creams on and then rinse them off. This cycle continued for about a half an hour, all the time the steam is sweating everything out of you. I felt like a child being bathed by my mother and it was very intimate which surprised me but i've read up on it since and it's all part of the ritual, and i must admit being bathed by someone else is a very nice relaxing and comforting feeling. After a while she switched from creams to a rough scrub brush. It was like "enough fun, now it's business time!" She scrubbed every inch of me till i was pink and then rinsed me one last time. It was almost painful, but i walked out feeling amazing, then I got another shower and an hour long massage in the next room over. The massage that followed was if anything a little too timid for my liking, because i prefer an aggressive deep massage, but i'm sure if i'd asked they would have complied. All in all i'd recommend the Moroccan bath, but you have to be prepared for the intimacy of it all. Do some reading on the history of the tradition and you'll most likely really enjoy it.

Hi! They same offer ran 2 weeks ago and me and my friend did it. So disappointing! It was 2 tiny rooms, one for massage and one for moroccan bath, the massage sucked, the moroccan bath wasn't much better. No hair oil thing, the facial was a face mask and nothing else. I don't recommend it. I got the cobone for the moroccan bath at k medi spa for 160 instead of 400, did it yesterday and it was amazing. My skin is like velvet now. Stay away from metropolitan. Not to mention the lack of parking. To use their car park, you have to pay 25 dirhams! edited by SemiSaudi on 16/11/2011
