As you know, unfortunately there is no play areas in the MR area. I would like you to please take into consideration what I have to say.

I live on the 1st floor and there is a bit of open space below my terrace. Everyday starting around 9:30 AM until around 7:30 PM housemaids congregate on the promenade under my terrace. There can be up to 6 at a given time, and 9 children. I have to listen to the housemaids chattering away to each other or on their mobiles - it appears that they can't keep the volume down. There are children crying or screaming while playing. Because of the level of noise I cannot keep my doors open. I have on several occasions asked them to move away from the area (one little girl stuck her tongue out at me and the housemaid had herself a laugh) but it seems to be the one area that doesn't get sun so they keep returning. When they have moved I noticed that when the sun comes around they move further into shaded areas so the children aren't exposed to the sun. Try to imagine if you had this under your terrace every day?

I have watched children run around with no socks on. They are made to sit on cold marble. They are left to run around barefoot or with only socks on the cold cement passage where dogs pee and poo. I have seen things picked up from the ground and given to the child - toys and baby bottles. Recently 4 housemaids were sitting around and a child was walking on a ledge and took a fall which was at least 2 feet to the ground. The housemaids had their backs to the child and another child had to tell them about the fallen girl. I also saw a young boy climbing onto a metal box which is some sort of cabinet (I haven't seen it up close) set on a pole with the door open. The pole is at least 5 feet high. I saw a child sitting in the huge pot where there is a date tree. She was throwing the little balls out onto the ground. The housemaids also eat and leave a mess of food droppings.

I also observed where there were at least 4 housemaids and the toddlers they were watching go in and out of a tenants apartment which is on the promenade level. I could only wonder if madam was home, and if not, did she know the traffic that was going through her home?

I am asking that you speak to your housemaid and tell them if the are amongst those that congregate near building 2 to find a place to meet up where they will not disturb other tenants. I don't want to be a meanie and get Nahkeel Security where they would take down the building/apartment of each housemaid and pay you a visit. For all intents and purposes this is a common area that is being used as a play area, which it is not. I do believe I am entitled to peace and quite and the consideration of other tenants, as all tenants are, and should not have to be subjected for 10 hours of noise.

So I respectfully request you take into consideration my post and try to help correct the situation.

where is Marina Residence 1 / 2 / 3 ? On the Palm. It's unfortunate that no play areas were taken into consideration during the planning of the development. Perhaps you should have taken that into consideration when locating a home. It feels a bit like the guy who bought a house in the Meadows on the park and then complained about the children playing in the park. You said it yourself - PARK. Let's turn it around. Maybe people with children should have taken into consideration if there were designated parks and/or playgrounds. What I did take into consideration was that there was NO designated park/playground underneath or near my apartment. Just ONE one of the reasons I took the apartment. The situation I'm experiencing came months AFTER I moved into my apartment. Once again you assume (I'm daft??) I didn't have the foresight to consider my surroundings when I chose to move to the MR. If Nahkeel should choose to designate certain common areas as playgrounds then they become playgrounds, but at the moment there are no designated playgrounds or parks. No different if one moved to a certain area because it was a low traffic area and the RTA decides to construct a 4 lane road outside your villa. It wasn't there before you moved in, but now it is. Again, up to now there are no designated playgrounds or parks and housemaids do not have the right to turn a common area into a play area. When looking at villas on Al Wasl Road or Jumeriah Beach Road one of the things I considered was traffic flow because these villas faced the roads. While in the villas you could easily hear the traffic and car horns. When you look for a place to live, do you consider the surrounding area? If you have children, do you look for designated play areas or see if there is a designated park nearby for them? Clearly you are focused on one thing and can't see the bigger picture. edited by Crystil on 05/01/2012

What is the difference between a common area and a play area? If that is the only place they have, you're probably out of luck. From your post, it seems like you spend quite a lot of time watching these kids - I recommend you keep the door shut and perhaps get a hobby which will take you out of the house more often. Excuse me for asking for some consideration. What was I thinking??? Clearly you don't know the difference between a common area and a playground. Hallways are common areas, not playgrounds, but you hear people complain about children playing in them. There is NO DESIGNATED play area - as in playground. That's on Nahkeel, I didn't plan the layout. Do you know what I do day to day? When I AM home why should I have to shut my doors? Am I not entitled to open them and get fresh air? Should I leave my home at 9:30 in the morning and return at 7:30 PM? This is an everyday occurrence which has been going on for [b'>many, many months,[/b'> so how can one not notice on occasion what is going on right under them any given day during a 10 hour period? I have a lovely terrace, should I not be able to sit out there and read a book as I am an avid reader, which some consider a hobby, as opposed to some who consider sitting on a forum a hobby, or just sit out relax and take in the fresh air? Do you live in the MR? I guarantee the madams who have their housemaids take their children out aren't experiencing what I do. "Recommendations" based on assumptions??? edited by Crystil on 05/01/2012
