My Nanny is Pregant
My Nanny is Pregnant.
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice if anyone can help or has been through the same.
I have a live out nanny who works full time looking after my 10 month old baby while I work. Around 6 weeks ago she announced to me and my husband that she was pregnant.
All though we was not happy about it we decided to support her and allow her to travel back to her home country for 6 weeks to give birth and come back (this is what she wanted to do).
We have always been very good to her, we know she takes advantage and doesn’t work as hard as she should be we let her get away with it as she is fantastic with are daughter, we also pay her more than double of a goods maids wage (just under AED 4000) In past week we feel she has pushed us to far and I’m struggling to find a solution, let me explain to you what has happened to push us over the edge.
Sunday morning she arrives at work and tells me she has booked her flights but she needs 12 weeks of work, I told her very sternly that I cannot allow that. She has full insurance and would be covered for the birth but only in Abu Dhabi, she refuses to have the baby in Abu Dhabi (as it too far away) and cannot get approval from her doctor to fly at 36 weeks. If we cancel her visa we lose our AED 5000 deposit and I have to find someone else and trust them with my daughter, today she turns up and complains that I haven’t got her ID card yet and it’s my responsibility to get it and pay for it!
I feel stressed by the whole situation and am spending my days trying to find a solution while she sits at home doing nothing!
Any advice would be good please.
