Looking for a nursery within easy distance of Discovery Gardens. I'm not keen on Chubby Cheeks.

Would love to hear from anyone with pre-school children who could recommend a nursery with an emphasis on school preparedness such as number and letter recognition, etc. My son is 4 and due to no school place has to enter year 1 directly from nursery in 2012, so I'm anxious about him being up to the same level as the other children who had already been attending school for a 1 or 2.

I work fulltime also, so looking for somewhere with longer opening hours. And not too aggressive on my wallet ;)

Hi punch - Your choice of nursery is imp as you are looking for place in grade 1 and not FS1. The Children's Garden nursery from Taleem group goes straight to Reception FS2 year. Some nurseries go upto FS1 My child is doing FS at Chubby Cheeks Nursery and has already secured admision in KG2 in JSS. I went in with attendance record and baseline assesments provided by the nursery. Neighbour's son is in same nursery, will be going to American Academy in FS2 in Sept. Other nurseries that do a proper FS class are Marina Village Nursery in JBR and British Orchard Nursery - they are also open full day. Good Luck:-) edited by seashell on 30/12/2011

Hi punchbiffpow, my. Child goes to Kids World in Jlt, it's a learning centre n I feel they are certainly more educationally oriented. I had checked on with them (they are licensed n approved by khda like schools) before I put my son in (also due in fs1 this Sept). They have a preschool program in the morning. U can check with them too. I am personally very satisfied n my child's communication has increased a lot in these last few months he as started on with them. My little one is happy too. The contact number is 04-4534272/ 050-3592666. edited by Shaista123 on 22/12/2011
