Hello ladies. I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me please. If I ordered an item of clothing online from Australia would I have to pay taxes on it after arrival here in Dubai? Not usually. I use shop and ship by Aramex to order clothes from the US and UK I believe if the cost is over a certain amount then you can pay extra for customs Geordie Expat may know what the cost before being tax is as I never buy more than AED1000 worth of items at a time Thanks for reminding me Sarahlou :( I had paid over GBP100 when I got caught for customs duty. Now I follow your lead and say that it is a gift and they don't put the price on the receipt :)

In theory you should pay import duties on anything that is purchased overseas (I think!) but it depends on customs clearance and whether they see fit to charge it. I have had things delivered by DHL and had to pay the duty and I have had things delivered by Fedex and Aramax and they seem to slip through the net and arrive without duty added.
