I decided to see Dr. Sejal Surti relating to my issues and on my first visit with her, I was happy with her overall, compared to the other gyno doctors I had seen. However, on my follow up visit to see her, things didn’t go too well. When I met her, there was no greet nor the warmth of a smile, something that is generally done between a doctor and patient. Upon discussing my issue with her, question to me was ‘so what is the issue now?’ If I knew that, I would not be seated there with her, would I? After further discussion, examination and tests taken, the treatment for my problem was discussed, or rather just communicated to me within 15 seconds and when I queried of the prescription she has advised on, I was told its ‘up to me, to take the medicines or not’. Now this is not the type of response that, as a patient, I had expected from a doctor. As patients, the issues we face are itself quite tormenting and we see the doctor to seek some kind of relief and remedy for our issues and not to be treated in such a harsh manner which leads to further frustration. In my view, her attitude was completely unprofessional and unacceptable to me. Even if we think that she was just having a bad day, I don’t think it is very ethical and professional to take out the bad mood on a patient for God’s sake! Speechless, disappointed, frustrated and with a heavy heart, I just said ‘ok’ to her so-called solution to my problem and left her room.
