A friend of mine needed to have uterine polyps removed and then a d&c. The insurance company REALLY dragged their feet in 'approving the procedure'. I'm wondering if it was the procedure or the insurance? Just curious what folks on here think :)

Insurance company had everything 4 days a head of time (including sonagrams and all labs). Thinking maybe it was that the hospital O.R. got booked before the insurance had approved? Or....was it the procedure? I thought I'd read/heard somewhere about women having trouble getting a D&C approved here? Ladies? Any thoughts?

It is often because the doctor has not provided them with enough info on why the procedure is requried, the forms go back and forth via the clinic staff from the doctor to the company and back until they have sufficient clinical info as to why it is necessary before they decide to agree to cover it...or not. Unfortunate but true.
