So - just to clarify...it's a no to hugging in public? Unless you are two males then hugging, kissing, holding hands, that seems to be acceptable. That's what i thought! And it's not like we kiss kiss, it's just on the cheek and randomly! I just don't want to go to prison i'm pretty young lol

I don't like PDA's wherever i am, i was on a flight from Palma to Zurich once and this young swiss couple were.... well they may as well as well have just got down to it, as they were so close to the act anyway, i had my son who was 6 at the time with me and i was disqusted, anyway i said something, like can you not wait untill you get home and the bloke said to me, you are only jealous because you are old and not getting any! I burst out laughing ! so disrespectful! well im pregnant at mo so im obviously getting something;) Really though people should be aware of the rules here, I think they should get a leaflet at the airport , I saw a topless woman on the Atlantis beach last year and the guard didn't say anything! she was very lucky no one took exception!

We don't cuddle in public (except at the airport, but only briefly). We don't kiss either (airport rules again). We hold hands, thassit. Ditto and we only hold hands cos we are married. Any visitors that we have had that aren't married we've warned them against even holding hands in public. I thought even for married couples holding hands was not allowed ?

I was out recently in a bar, sitting outside, this couple really needed to get a room to be honest, surely we all know how to be respectful, obviously not, they must of been holiday makers. Dont they read the rules and regs beofre landing here!!!!!!!!!!!

And it's SO disrespectful to the culture here!!! Having been here only a few weeks I have been amazed just how disrespectful people are here compared to Bahrain, not just PDA but also clothing... , eg young western teenage girl wearing a shoulderless/sleeveless denim top at Burj Khalifa, local guy in the lift couldn't get out quick enough - not certain she was a tourist either.

ok so hand holding is ok? I see people do it all the time, I thought it was only kissing - properly- but even cuddling is wrong? What if it's just a quick peck on the cheek?

You can wind up in jail if you do it in front of the wrong person.

Hi everyone! I am new to Dubai, well not that new but relatively new - anyway I have a partner and we hear stories all the time about couples being put in jail for kissing on the cheek and hugging in public? Is this true? I am against PDA in general but I often give my partner a cuddle if we're waiting in line or sitting close - is this illegal? :) TIA edited by sara_2 on 19/01/2011
