Hi Ladies,

I got the dates on my current visitor visa mixed up and thought it was out this w'end, but it's not, it was out last wend.
Is it still ok to go and do a visa run or will I have problems. Also is Hatta the best place to go to??

I have done the visa run on day 39 regularly over the last year and have not been fined. I go to the border post past RAK which is about a 5 hour round trip from Jumeira. One can walk between the border posts and not have to worry about car insurance for Oman. I have also been lucky going from the airport, as I have been a few days late on a number of occasions and not paid a fine. Think it depends very much on the person checking the passport!

Isn't it possible just to go to the Nationalisation and Residency Centre in Al Jaffilia to extend it for a few days and pay the fine, rather than driving all the way to Hatta?

You may be fined. When we left in August via Dubai Airport we were fined for overstaying 4 days (Dhs300 for first day, Dhs 100 for subsequent days, I think) On another occasion we had overstayed by a few days and were NOT fined when going to the border in Hatta. Both occasions during the last 6 month.

Okay, we did our visa run last weekend we were chatting to the guy in the building where you reenter Dubai. He told us that the visit visa is valid for 40 days, even though the stamp says 30 and he actually showed us the date in their computer system and sure enough, it is 40 days from date of issue. He called it a period of grace. so we are going to deliberately do our next run a week later than usual and see what happens. So I really don't think you have anything to worry about, worse case scenario, you might get fined, but when they check your passport to their computer, you will still be in date, so I think it will be okay. Let us know! yeah, except remember there is a grace period which they can choose not to fine you, but if they want to fine you they still can.
