Was thinking of eating out for iftar today. What are the restaurants like in the Mall during this time? Do you need to go early; do they fill up fast? Anyone know?

FYI, we ended up at TCF at Mall of the Emirates. We were told to arrive around 6 to 6:15. Our name was taken and given a beeper. They called us to begin seating by around 6:20. Orders were taken to prepare for the breakfast. Someone came around to inform us that fasting was over, Food came out shortly thereafter. I was pleasantly surprised at how well organized they were. This is the first time I have ever eaten out during Ramadan (husband traveling) -- no kidding! By the time we had started eating, the placed was pretty full. Anyway, thanks for the responses.

I once wanted to do the same in a restaurant, being pregnant in my last trimester at that time, I was asked to wait until all the workers (laboures) was done severing & eating at the restaurant. Imagine my patience of cravings & going nuts from within. I had to wait for over a hour and then just asked them to give me a take away, which took another 45m. Phew after that never ever had an Iftar meal in a restaurant, unless if my company had an Iftar party.

Depends which restaurants! The arabic restaurants are generally busy and need to be pre-booked. I would also say the popular restaurants, such as The Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, etc, do get busy very quickly - I tried to get a table at TCF in Dubai Mall at about 6:40 and they weren't able to accommodate . You would probably need to be there by 6:30 to secure a table at one of the popular restaurants. If you're not picky then you will definitely find a lot of restaurants have places.
