Does anyone know what the fine amount is for going through a toll gate without any credit on your salik?

I know I have some fines but cant log in to check and I'm wondering if I'm looking at a few hundred or thousands in fines.

If you pass through Salik without balance, then this pass will first go into pending or violation account (sorry, can't tell you the exact name as the system is down at the moment). If you don't top up your account soon (again not sure exactly on the number of grace days given), it will be converted into fine of 50Dhs per toll. You could check this online if you have your login details. And you can easily top up account through Salik recharge card from any petrol station, payment through credit card within your login account or through your banking online Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip! I'll check if they have an expiry and if not buy a few next time I'm out. I remember when he was getting the texts to say his credit is finished and I was telling him 'your getting fined right now- they dont text that you have a fine but you are getting fined' and I was told to 'relax and chill out'. I think its a man rant day today for me!

If you pass 2 within 20 mins it only counts as one. Also - you should receive an SMS when you're running low on credit and when you've passed through a gate with no balalnce. YOu then have 5 days to top up and when you do, the last 5 days worth of 4aed charges will come out of your top up amount. So it's not all bad and sometimes quite hard to work out. BTW - I am really bad at topping up and last year paid 2,000aed in Salik fines. My advice - buy 200 or 300aed at the start of every month and top up in big chunks as it's so easy to forget lol! Argggh! Good advise but tell it to my darling dh! Its him who has racked up most if not all of the fines and I've always said to him top up 400 dhs at the start of the month then your sorted! He will do it then just forget to top up for another 2 months... men....!

if you have online banking you can probably top up online too, I do it direct from the 'billpay' tab on our visa account which we pay off in full every month.

Its defnitely per toll not per day. Salik stickers are available at petrol stations and recharge cards too.

I thought it was a fine per day not per toll! I have to pass 3 tolls to get to work/home so 6 in total... I guess my fines in the few thousand dhs mark!
