Hello, I need your advise urgently. Im from Belgium and ive been offered a job in Dubai. But im a single mom with no father in the picture, I haven't been married and I have a blank space in my sons passport. I called immigration and I was told I would not be able to sponsor my child. Has anyone had this situation? anyone aware if anything can be done? Thanks in advance

I sponsored my daughter despite her not having a father on her birth certificate. The application had to be sent to a special department (maybe the office of humanitarianism or something - this will be done by the visa office employee when you start the process) and I had to keep going back over a couple of weeks until it was processed but I got it eventually. The only problem was they tried to charge me 5000aed extra but I went to the women's section of the visa office and the lady in there reduced it to 2000aed extra. I have had no problems reissuing the visa twice since then.

I am in a similar position - I am hoping to move to Dubai next year. The father of my two elder children is my ex-husband so am hoping that will be ok. But the father of my younger child is someone I was never married to and he is not named on the birth certificate. I have spoken with a visa company and been advised it would be very, very unlikely my son would get a visa ... so I am now looking into adding the father to the birth certificate but I am not sure if this will be effective either. Let me know how you are progressing - likewise I will from my side if I hear of anything further.

The UAE considers *** outside of marriage and any subsequent pregnancy resulting from it, illegal. They do not discriminate with whether the "breaking of the law" occurred prior to arrival to the UAE. If you had a child outside of marriage they are supposed to deny your visa. You have proven to them that you have broken their laws. Only divorced women (who had their children inside of marriage) are approved as this is not illegal. They also require a letter from the father giving permission for their children to reside in the UAE (even if father has no custody). Somebody mentioned it happened once to their knowledge and was seen as a humanitarian case. My advice is that you are most likely going to be denied. Not good news but I feel the most likely outcome

Good luck and please let us know if you managed to get a confirmed answer. Today I was asked the same question from an old friend of mine who considers a job in dubai but has never been married and has a 2 year old son through sperm donation. It would be very said if she couldn't sponsor him, but I am not sure if she can.

Very difficult. But I've heard of it perhaps being done ... can you ask the company that offered you a job what to do? I've also had single friends leave Dubai because it was so hard to get and maintain a visa for their children.

i found this on Expat Echo: ' AnswerYes, she can sponsor her child however, this is subject for approval from the Immigration Authority and as part of requirement she would need to provide an NOC letter from the father which should be fully legalized in Foreign Affairs and UAE Embassy from the country where it is issued and further legalization in MOFA in UAE is required. Also, the birth certificate of the child should be fully legalized as well. Usual requirements for sponsoring dependents will apply such as Attested Tenancy Contract, Latest Dewa Bill,Passport Copy & Visa, Passport Copy of the Child, Attested Employment Contract / Salary Certificate in Arabic, Emirates ID, 1 photo white background , Required Salary: AED Min 3,000 + accommodation or AED 4, 000 basic salary

but as I said there's no father in the picture, I haven't been married, I had a boyfriend who didn't recognize the child, so the father part is blank in the passport. Any idea?
