We went to the lands department today but our landlord hasnt' registered the title deed (as they have to pay 1.5 % of the purchase price and its a new development!). They can't certify that our villa is more than 2 bedrooms without it.

Has anyone had a similar issue when trying to sponsor visitors and if you did, were you able to get around it?

We have a floor plan from the developer and the lease....

If you rented through an agent he may be able to help you. (Actually he should have seen the Deeds before he took the property on - otherwise there is not the proof of ownership as required). Point this out to him ( all agent should be RERA registered now) and hopefully he can get in touch with LL.

OH dear, I have two weeks to get this done. My mum is needed to assist me with my childcare. Since its a new development, its possible, he's already done this but its back logged. He lives in Egypt. Does anyone know a way around the lease being certified for sponsorship?

I am not an expert - but for what it is worth - your landlord must register the title deeds and pay the 1.5% of purchase price. Everyone has had to do it. No one is allowed to rent or sell their property ( so I have been told by Emaar) without it. Also a solicitor told me the same. It can take about 2 months to do - or longer.
