Dear All, Thanks for the feedback- we are actually working through a lot of changes to the site and things will come and go and change over this period. Please bear with us- the team are working very hard on this, so please be patient. The site is very vast and has hundreds of pages and sections and has been live for 10 years so as you can imagine there are lots of add ons, links, pages and bolted ons etc. etc. etc. to take into consideraton. We are working on it night and day to get it 100%. Thanks in advance, Admin

well i just changed it to Arial and it's still ugly. It's the weird spacing that's been used.

I'm using the Firefox browser, which gives me the option (Tools > Options > Content > Fonts and Colours > Advanced) to allow websites to choose their own fonts, or not. Did you see that research which showed that people who use Firefox are smarter than those that use plain old Internet Explorer? I dont need research to know that Firefox users are smarter! ;)

Thanks for the tip - MAC users - go to Firefox/Preferences/Fonts & Colours. In ADVANCED - be sure to untick ALLOW PAGES TO CHOOSE THEIR OWN FONTS INSTEAD OF MY SELECTIONS ABOVE -

Am I surprised? ;) (That when I google for the story, I see the caveat "it now seems likely this story may have been a hoax" :D )

Off topic a smidgeon, but has anyone seen that movie about fonts? And isn't there a new book on the topic that is supposed to be really good? a book on fonts? Good? are you serious? Apparently, there is a quite a bit of intrigue surrounding fonts - it's called "Just My Type," by Simon Garfield. Can't wait to read it!

Basic rule of web design... due to varying screen qualities/ sizes etc All fonts for web use should be [b'>SANS-SERIF[/b'> [b'>A web page is designed for its user ! Know your audience [/b'> What looks good on printed material does not translate to screens! fancy flashing banner are distracting and cheapen the look of the site [b'>the site has gone from looking "passable" to looking like a very bad 90's landing page with more emphasis on sponsorship than user experience. ![/b'>Heres a clue, you need your users to make the sponsorship valid.. no users no clicks! Agree - its a complete 'make[i'>under[/i'>'.

I've never liked Times New Roman, except when reading "The Times", in the days it Thundered, of course ;) edited by simpleasabc on 28/08/2011

The majority of websites use Arial as a font - why? Because it's easy to read and rounded. This website is now using around 3 different fonts - it's all over the place and confusing. Have you noticed that when you type your reply it's in Arial, but when it appears on the site it's Times New Roman? What's that all about. How about googling 'how to make your website pleasing to the eye' - some great blogs on how to do it properly. Come on mods, do it properly and have the same font all the way through. edited by Chocs01 on 28/08/2011

I've changed my font settings so I can have the font and size I want, not dictated by the website I'm on. The layout here is still peculiar and difficult to negotiate.

To be honest it's not very pleasing to the eye, the colours are harsh, the font is too hard and small - makes it very difficult to look at now.
