Hi I went to the Oman embassy here dropped my passport off and got it back 2 hours later. It cost me Dhs 500 and i can go in as many times as i like over the next year. I do have a residency visa though, they did ask me what nationality I was when I called to enquire (british) not sure if that is relevant or not. Hope this helps a little, I would go down there and ask with passport and copy you may be able to do it straight away.

Baggie babe, The one year multi entry... can I purchase one and use it to head over to Oman each month for a visa run? Does it have a limit on hoe many times you can come and go? May I ask where you got it? TIA :)

Hi, We didn't pay anything when crossed the border last June, we were asked to present our passports at the check point. That's all. Have a good trip. Lovely place

Hi If you are purchasing a single entry then it will be for one entry only. They are valid for 28 days though, but once you leave yes you would need a new one. I have just purchased a 1 year multi entry for Dhs 500.
