We finally found a maid who came to us today.
For me it is quite difficult to decide what I should discuss with her tomorrow. My husband thinks I am already to nice and we need to make some rules. We already spoke about not having people in the flat, but that is all.

Can someone give me a kind of guide what you have discussed with your maids at the beginning.? Should we write this down, even given the fact her English is perfect?

Should I also discuss with her daily routines which will change anyway in January when we have another child and also afterwards when I start work again?

Should we make clear, which days are off, how many holidays we give and when whe should take them and so on...

I would very much appreciate if I get some hints what is important to discuss to prevent some nasty discussions in the future.

Thanks

yes ! I sat with mine and went through a list of what I want her to do and the times factoring in her breaks and lunch time. i also walked her around the house and showed her every socket and switch and how everything works, where to turn the water off and got her a note book so she can write everything in that . I made it clear to hetr what my house rules are and her role in the household. I wanted to be clear with her fron day one what is expected from her. I have had a maid in the past who was experienced and had my fingers burnt as I assumed she knew all of this but the reality was far different.
