We are seriously getting bored of doing the same things over and over again on fridays...What do you ladies do? What is a typical friday for you and your family?

Please do let tell me that you sleep late, I will get jealous since my kids are up at 6am every friday!!!

In our former life: Wake up around 7/8am DH goes downstairs and makes pancakes with Nutella Eat pancakes in bed catching up on recorded episodes of 2 and a Half Men :) Around 10:30/11am head out to The Royal Meridien for a day at the beach Club Sandwiches at the beach bar is normally had around 1pm with non-alcoholic cocktails Snooze time :) Around 3/4pm, DH and i normally head down to the water for some water sports Home around 5/6pm Barbie and cocktails (normally mojito's or cosmo's, depends who is on bar duty) until we roll into bed :D In our present life: We have a newborn and all fragments of a former life are long forgotten ;)

Ours always runs the same course. We take our son to the chedi for breakfast and nip into see our grandchildren on the way home. husband might then go out to a meeting and I stay home with our son. . hubby comes home and the rest of the day is spent with various members of family popping in. mid afternoon our daughter usually appears with our little ones and we have a swim and a nursery tea. the old fashioned nursery tea is the highlight of my day - well that is till one of my sons comes in off a camping trip with his friends and to stand still in the kitchen means you're likely to be eaten. it really is far better to be on the move and cooking. I like fridays and i'm never happier when I have all of my lot under the same roof and there's fighting and eating going on. and boy do my lot have some food barnies. :D edited by DesertRose1958 on 27/01/2011 This post made me laugh. Wow ladies, I'm surprised so many husbands are up early on fridays....Time to have a gentle talk with mine:) Really? I'm totally amazed reading this thread how many husbands get to laze in bed on the weekend. Well my DH is usually up 30 mn before the friday prayer! So those husbands taking the kids out for breakfast are like a dream to me...Actually he is now taking a nap since I woke him up at 10.30 this am! Anyone else thinks he is pushing it a bit?!!!!

Ahhhhh Fridays. Fridays are family day also known as egg day. (which I can't stand). So whole family (well apart from me) eat eggs for breakfast made by those who never venture into the kitchen under normal circumstances. I disappear for a while otherwise I would throw up at the smell. The kitchen is left like a cyclone has hit it. Then we all sit around the living room arguing about where we are going to go, until his highness falls asleep and then we sit around listening to his snoring for the rest of the day (well each with laptops on EW, or playing games or watching movies). Roll on Saturdays. (presently I'm stranded at the office cos of the storm) That'll teach them :)

Up 6-7. Normally find kids downstairs reading, watching tv, on computer. Cup of tea sit outside with laptop reading news. Kids make double recipe banana or blueberry oatmeal pancakes with help at the cooker. Smell gets DH up and we sit down and spread cadbureys chocolate spread on top of hot pancakes seriously heaven!! DH gets to clean up bomb site in kitchen. Freeze left over pancakes and i have snacks sorted for the school week. Write menu for the week and shopping list. Spinneys after we can be bothered to get showered/dressed. Try to get homework done so we don't have to think about it again. Evening we watch a movie together. Watching all the Harry Potter ones just now. We listen to them on CD in the car first before the movie. All sounds pretty boring but i wouldn't change it :) Fridays we mooch, Saturdays we go out somewhere together.

5.30 DD gets up, goes into bathroom, slams door. Heads to DS' room, slams door again. DH drags her back to her bed, usually a few terse words are exchanged. 7.30am Curfew expires. DS heads in to our bed for a wrestle/tickle with DH, DD heads downstairs to stir up the dog. Emails/calls back home. 8am Round 1 Caffeine kicks in, kids finally want breakfast. DH takes them to Costa, while I do various jobs. Big treat as he lets them eat all sorts of unsuitable things and then a bit of toy browsing takes place in Hallmark. 9am The debate. Will we do something today? All options discussed/discarded in favour of being lazy. Usually the only thing we all want to do is go to the beach or go riding bikes and running. 12 noon McDonalds and then a big nap. DS and DD say 'yes' to whatever I put on their plates all week, and I let them have Maccas on a Friday. Win-Win! 3pm Stagger out of bed and start dinner prep. 3-8 Friends usually come over with their kids and the backyard is full of small people and big people, doing their thing. Dinner gets expanded or shrunk depending on the ebb and flow. 9pm Everyone heads off and DH puts the kids to bed. Then it is drinks on the patio and bed! If the extended party goes past the 9pm point, especially if someone finds the Mamma Mia soundtrack, you can forget doing anything Sat, we are usually, sadly, completely written off. Worth it every now and again :) Not very exciting, is it? I tried really hard to make it sound like it is, but no, failed on that score.

On Fridays, like any other day I wake up when DD wakes up - used to be 6am, these days 7.30am. I let Dh to sleep later, he works hard so deserves a lie in. I take DD to the park after breakfast, usually meet one of the other mums whose husband also sleeps till later. We sit on a picnic blanket, do some coloring and draeing with the kids, kids play, we have a snack. During winter months when weather is great to be outside as much as we can and let DD get lots of exercise and running around. We go back home around 10am, my DH will be up then and lately as I am 9 months pregnant, he then takes DD out for some daddy-daughter time and I get some rest. Often they eat lunch outside too, or if not, we eat lunch around 1pm. Then at 2pm it is naptime/rest for all of us. 3.30pm we get up and hang out at home for an hour or so and then we go out. Often meet friends with kids for early dinner at some family friendly restaurant around 5pm.

Typical for us is to sleep in a bit (no children) and then head out to a mall somewhere and, on the way check out our PO Box. More recently, as we're going to be moving to Muscat, we've been checking out furniture stores as some of the stuff we have here isn't going to fit in our new home and the selection/choice here in Dubai is far better. A typical Saturday, roughly every three weeks or so, involves leaving Dubai at around 8am - 8.30am and running through to Muscat for a few days trying to get things set up for our move there. Beer o'clock when we arrive at our preferred hotel in Muscat is a welcome time!

nice topic frenchy ... and dont feel sorry as my LO's do the same ... they wake up around 7-7:30 ... while DH likes to sleep till late in the afternoon ... and gets really tricky trying to keep their volumes low so he gets his weekend sleep ... DH wakes up around 10-11 ... eats breakfast while LO's are in shower ... then LO's go to sleep ... we relax at home till 6-7 in the evening .... after that me and kids push DH out of the door to take us somewhere ... mall , park, road ... literally anywhere ... as we dont go out much even during the week ... you can say DH is a very homely sort of person :)

Kids up by 6. Take kids to park ASAP where we share a McDonald's breakfast. Come home after an hour. DH rolls out of bed around 10. Serve breakfast number two. Do housework. Go to some shopping mall or park (in the winter). Family restaurant around 5 pm and back home and put the kids to bed and then I go to bed as soon as I have finished all my chores.

One of us sleeps late, the other gets up with the kids, prepares breakfast. At around 9am the other gets up, we have breakfast, baby goes back to bed for about 2 hours and after that we go out; roller skating in the park, ice skating at Stargate, children's city, play at the beach, Zoo in Sharjah or Al Ain. Always followed by lunch or picnic. Sometimes we have lunch at a friends house. And every few months we have brunch at the Westin or the Address.

errrm, i LOVE friday. Mia moo and I sleep in til oohhhh, at least 6. Himself is away cycling for 5 or 6 hours. We eat eggs, watch tele, this weekend will visit a market or two. it is our time to chill. so we do so. The rest of the week and usually our weekends are horridly busy, so we take what we can get.

We are up at 6am too, not much happening at that time on a Friday but i do like taking the kids to posh paws petting zoo. It opens at 9am and its great. Goats, rabbits, monkeys, puppies, horse rides, whats not to love? Kids are happy, no hassle. Its free, just leave a donation.
