The Byly is microwavable and does not need strips. You have to peel it off. It is a hard wax.
Cool, thanks for info Icedqueen, will check out! :) (hopefully I can just heat on stove?!)
Byly wax??! never heard of that! but as I've just posted to em2san - I'm willing to try anything!!
Is that thick wax you can just heat on the stove & don't need strips to rip it off with?!
The Byly wax that I've seen is in a jar and can be heated on microwave/stove and comes with disposable cloth strips.
Cheers for that, but I'm after the wax that doesn't need strips! (hate 'em!) .... I think i know the stuff you mean, and I think you really need a microwave for that ... I don't have a microwave! (I don't want one either!). Thanks for your input anyway! :)

popicle,
Don't know if I'm thinking of the same thing as you. There's a wax that we get in a huge chunk in a plastic cover. You just cut off as much as you need and heat in a pan on the stove. This can be applied when warm and then it sets and you peel it off and it makes a circular kind of gloop that we call "gola" in Urdu. This can be found in any Pakistani/Indian specialty shop in Old Dubai. You can just ask them for "gola wax".
Hope that helps.
Cheers for this em2san! I'm getting desperate & willing to try anything! :)

There is one in the newish Etihad Mall near Mirdif too....
When you say - [i'>'there's one' [/i'>..... what do you mean exactly?! there's another 'nazih store' there? is that what you mean't?
And do you know if they have the kind of 'hot wax' that you can heat on the stove, and which kind of 'sets' when it cools a little so as you can rip it off without using strips?
Yes, i went there twise myself, but i'm not sure if there is a Reef Mall, i haven't seen. Honestly it's very complicated to explain how to reach there((( are you driving?
yes I did drive!! And managed to find the place! however, although there was plenty of different waxes there, they didn't have the kind I'm looking for! ;-((
The one I'm after, the shop assistant lady called "brazilian wax'', the kind where it 'sets' and you peel/rip it off without strips.
They only had the stuff which remains sticky (with the 'machine warmer') and you need strips to whisk it off! I HATE strips!! Too harsh! plus if find the hair tends to rip/break off more easily with strips (esp. if ladies don't know how to wax properly!). She said they hadn't had the 'brazilian wax' in stock for approx 4 months or so, and wasn't sure if they'd get it in again! ;-((((((
Back on the 'hunt' I go! ;-((
Thanks again for your help though!

Have you been there? Is it [b'>near[/b'> 'Reef Mall?' (I took a quick look at google maps, and the road it's on, is where Reef Mall is located)

I have read many posts where one can 'go' to get a (good!) wax, namely [i'>brazilian![/i'>
However, for the in-between stages I'm more than happy to do a quick wax job myself. I used to be able to get 'hot wax' at most chemists 'back home', but it seems to be incredibly hard to find here. I have tried everywhere! I do not want the 'honey looking' stuff that comes in plastic tubs that you can heat in the microwave (I don't own a microwave - nor do I want to!). The wax I used to buy, came in what looked like a little mini fry pan! Where you'd just be able to wack that straight onto to the stove, heat it up till it melts & "wha-la!" it was ready to go!
Does ANYONE know WHERE I could buy hot wax here in dubai, myself, without having to go to a beautician?
[b'>Can anyone please help me!!! [/b'>... and even better still, the 'green stuff?!' ... is that Lycon? Can one just buy that anywhere here?
