Hi all..

I was wondering where to buy yarn and sewing supplies? Can I get anything from Carrefour and Geant?

Oh, but it's the end of the month (=money is veeeery tight) ;) I just need a bit of yarn, maybe a set of needles. I only knit and crochet by now, I do not own a sewing machine, though I'm dreaming of it... ahhh.. If you don't want very expensive yarn in 100% natural fibre you can get really inexpensive sewing supplies from Daiso. They have stores in Lamcy Plaza, Oasis Centre and Ibn Battuta Mall. Do you maybe know where in Ibn Battuta? It's quite big, for a pregnant lady :p Daiso is at the Geant end, so with Geant on your left you walk on straight in the direction of the exit and its on your right hand side after a few shops. P.S. Not a huge range of "wool" (acrylic type) colours but quite a good selection of general sewing items, not sure if |I saw crochet hooks or not. I was looking for ant repellant, which they also did have btw! :) edited by Di@DXB on 21/10/2011 Haha - i'm gonna find it! When i search google, it seems like a wierd all-round shop. Big? It is quite a walk from one end of the mall to the other, but there is a buggy you can take for Dhs5 if you don't want to walk around. For Daiso park at the Geant car park and when you enter the mall take a right then right again at the supermarket. If going by taxi ask to be put down at the Geant end and when you enter from the taxi dropp off walk straight and very near by you will find Daiso on your left. You're a star explaining how to find places! ;) Very not-Dubai-ish ;) Well, thanks, i'm going later on, I will update here when i'm back :)

Well craftland is the place for yarn for sure and they have needles too. Fida in Satwa stock straight needles that are good quality and really cheap though if you're on a budget.

Erm, the prices are top end I would say but they do have a range of yarn. Cheap to Expensive. Just that the cheap is not as cheap as it should be and the expensive is more expensive than it should be! I would say that it does have the best range of yarn and sewing stuff in town. It has some beautiful fabrics and all the notions you would need I guess. Go equipped with lots of money though because you'll very quickly spend it there! Is there anything in particular that you're looking for? Satwa has some good haberdashery shops.....

Only basic sewing stuff there - needles and bits and bobs. Craftland in Jumeirah Town Centre and Magrudys in Festival City have yarn and sewing stuff. How are the prices in craftland? I've never been to jumeirah town centre, so this will be new! ;)
