Thanks, All. Hadn't thought of having one made - will look into that. I do work with locals, but not at the moment, and suspect they may send me to some very upscale shops (judging from the exquisite abayas they wear!). Want something very simple and yet elegant. Will investigate tailors - my local colleagues will likely be able to advise. Thank you again.

Try Hanayen, they may have a branch in Al Ain. DD will only wear Abayas from there, and they are expensive, but excellent quality.

There is this place called Abu Hail centre!! That's the place for Abayas ONLY!! and you can find all budgets, styles etc..

do you work with locals? ask them - sorry really can't answer as i don't really wear designer abayas and branded ones are more expensive than the tailor made ones.

Thanks, both! Should have mentioned I'm in Al Ain - are there any well-known abaya shops that may have branches here? I've seen abaya shops in the malls here, but wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction in terms of which ones stock fairly decent quality? (I guess it would be like if someone asked me where to buy a business suit, I could say M&S for OK-quality, Hobbs for better, etc. if that makes sense?!). Thanks again!

Can anyone advise as to where to shop for abayas? Would like something nice so willing to spend a bit, though not an outrageous sum! Know you can get them quite cheaply in Carrefour, Lulu, etc, but wonder about the quality of the fabric, hence thought I'd ask if there are well-known shops that carry a range of styles and prices....Any information about styles, what to look for, etc. would also be welcome! Thanks in advance!
