Can anyone recommend a cleaning agency where the cleaners are actually good at their job and diligent? I need someone to come in and do a full on clean and tidy this week, but the last company I used was awful.

I used to use one where they send 2 cleaners as standard but can't remember the name...

Anyway if anyone has suggestions I would be most grateful. I just want cleaners who take a bit of initiative and get on with things without me having to be there to point out anything other than mopping/hoovering!

Thanks :)

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear.... The company I wrote about was not Right Maids.... I was answering Genius's message about Housekeeping Company. I've heard that Right Maids is a great company. Just wanted to clarify things...

Funny you should mention this company. It explains why the maid I had felt she needed more cash. If you are considering using this company think twice. I was warned by friends not to use them but I didn’t listen. I paid the maid in cash and the envelope was never turned in to the office. When I explained this to the owner of the company she was rude to me, and took the side of the maid, and called me a liar. The owner does not stand by her customers. And I was a customer for 3 years. The owner sent a very rude email to my husband that he forwarded to our lawyer and he was appalled by her language and harsh tones, threatening us to pay an additional month for not giving a 30 day notice! She obviously does not do thorough background checks on her employees. I felt bad for the maid, because after reading your post, it explains why she was so desperate. So if anything is missing in your home or you pay in cash without getting a receipt, this company will not help you at all.

I use Right Maids (www.rightmaids.com) and have been happy for about 2 years now. I have a regular lady that comes twice a week.

I have heard there is a good one called housekeeping company and it is run by a British lady who will come out with the cleaners on the 1st visit. I do not know their number though The girls I've had from this housekeeping comapny have been good but the owner has such awful policies that I wouldn't touch this company again. This is tip of the ice-berg but one thing you could do is ask her to tell you about how her girls live and then after hearing her wonderful version, get her to take you there for an actual visit.
