Hello ladies!

Am planning DD's birthday next month and just wanted to have it in the park. So that's settled! :)

Now, what do I do with the kids who come there? What games and activities can I organize(if any?) I grew up with parties in the backyard generally but recently have been to some over the top parties for 2 yr olds with characters and puppet shows etc so, am a bit lost and feel like just a 'party in the park might not "do" if you know what I mean :)

TIA

LOL! he he, us and our pseudonyms :) Yes thats a good idea! I wanted to get the chaat guys to set up. You think Safa 2 would be ok with that? Everybody loves chaat and we can intro LB to it as well ;) I hope they do (thats the only thing I have my heart set on for the party)

yeah... permissions are required for sure... but the only way to get over this is to have it in a more private/residential park... some of the smaller parks in mirdiff / barsha / nahda are quite good with this... and all u really need is to go speak to the security guard in advance :)

Don't forget that if you are having a party in a public park you need to get prior written permission from the park manager first, they will usually ask for a copy of your letter when they see you setting up :)

hi there... hehehe don't worry nothing 'secret' about organising a good party :) a sweet station / or candy station is basically a decorated table (can be decorated to fit the party's theme if any or then just brightly coloured)... and will have on it multiple glass jars filled with lots of yummy treats (candies, jelly beans, lollies, cupcakes, chocolates, marshmallows, etc.) and little clear plastic bags for kids to pick their favourite sweets in... this also makes as an amazing return gift/favor... the sweets can be picked up from supermarkets or from any candy station (in most malls)... the candy stations charge roughly AED 8/- per 100gms... and to give you an idea of costs I usually charge clients around AED 350 for a fully loaded candy station (with around 8-10 different types of sweets) let me know if u need any additional info on this... I can some pics ur way for inspiration if u have an email address u could post :) i usually rent out obstacle course from Jane at Cheeky Monkey parties... they also hire out entertainers if you want to spend some more... but with little toddlers, they can be quite happy just running around in the grass or in the sandpit :) so don't stress :) just make sure ur LO has the time of his/her life on that day :)

Thanks A&C :) Where can I get an obstacle course from? And what do you mean by sweet station? I was thinking of having a chaat stall, do parks allow that? Thanks for sharing trade secrets ;) Thanks MnMsmummy! Thats what I figured but maybe it's the pressure to do a bit "more". Thanks :)

hi there... i'm a party organizer and i just did one for a similar mom like urself who wanted an old school type party for their 1yr old... so we actually just rented out a lil obstacle course for the kids, had some basic party games and a sweet station for the kids to collect their own bags of sweets (as favors) simple, yet effective and fun! :)

just been to al barash park for an event and the park itself is lovely enough. especially with the play grounds. the kids loved it. no need for anything over the top, especially at 2.
