Sorry to hear that moonbean, but I really wouldn't worry. Like you say you're not eating cake, sweets, choccie everyday and it sounds like you have a pretty healthy lifestyle. I heard that they don't even weigh you anymore in the UK so it can't be that important! Just enjoy your pregnancy and if you fancy a slice of cake now and again go for it :) Freckle Lime Tree is fab I love their carrot cake and chocolate brownies, yummmmy. More cafe also have pretty big slices of cake so no worries there!! With all that talk about cake... I went to Zen Yoga today and found it a great workout, a lot harder than I thought but I hadn't really done yoga before. Couldn't hold my balance on some of the positions and spent a lot of the class holding on to the wall, still found if entertaining if nothing else :) Check out their website if you're interested- www.yoga.ae

I had a DR appointment today, how depressing, she said i had gained too much weight since she last saw me which was 4 weeks ago:(:( I just dont know what to do! I mean i cant go on a diet and starve myself, and to be honest, i eat a lot of friut and veg. I have a sweet or choc here and there(mybe once a week) but the rest of the time it fruits and veg, oh yes and yoghurt. What else can I do? I do go out for walks with my son (not as much as I should but I do though) ARRRGH!!! so no cake for me thanks freckle;)

Thanks girls for the kind words! Met OH's colleague's wife today for coffee which was a breath of fresh air and has kept me sane for another day. Went to The Lime Tree Café and had the biggest piece of cake ever and we did a little tour about in her car! Not much progress on the villa front yet but OH is hiring a car for the weekend and I am looking forward to getting hopelessly lost or killing each other in the car :) Totally agree Monnbeam that I feel like I should be nesting. Hope you are feeling okay today? MOE sounds good to me too! Do they have big slices of cake???;)

Freckle I know how hard it is living in a hotel and out your suitcase, and yes it is the hormones that are playing with you. I guess when you are pregnant, your first instincts are always to 'nest' and make a comfortable home for your family and the arrival of your little one. Even though you may not think it but deep down im sure that is what your gut feeling is telling you should be happening! I know for me I keep on cleaning the house over and over again and baking! When we were moving I looked in the springs area and yes it is nice but most of the villas i saw were really small and yes i was put off by the bathrooms! We ended up in motor city, spacious apartments and fab bathrooms with seperate walk in shower. Have you considered this side of town? I'm just very emotional all the time, one minute im happy then im a demon to be around, then i just really want to cry, then I get so annoyed with my son and I feel quilty about it afterwards(and i want to cry) I cant keep up with myself anymore! to be honest its draining me! My poor boy has no clue why his mommy is not 'normal' Oh well it will be over soon(I hope) Meeting at the end of the month sounds really good, I'm up for that:):):):)

Oh Freckle I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling down :( I'm sure as soon as you find a home and get all your stuff moved in things will look brighter. Its especially hard for you being pregnant, our emotions being so up and down all the time. With regards to the villas the agents are probably showing you ones that have been empty for a while and may look a bit run down, remember that when you move in they should have been professionally cleaned, painted etc so may look very different. I really hope you find somewhere soon. Would love to meet up on the 25th, can I suggest More Cafe at MOE this time round?? Love the idea of a monthly catch up DaisyD :)

Thanks girls for the welcome! Believe me it's like music to my ears right now. OH has settled in at work but has been getting "home" quite late so I have been feeling slightly homesick and lonely. Haven't spoken to any of my family since last week and internet connection is doing weird things at the hotel. We went to Safa Park last weekend and I thought it was fantastic for families but we forgot the suncream (who needs cream in Feb...er we do apparently!) and I turned a nice shade of pink. Went to Bussola restaurant for a pizza last Friday and it was lovely. We haven't got a car yet so relying on taxis but we might hire one this weekend to experience the mad rush of driving on the roads over here. And I thought I was bad! Really worried about finding somewhere decent to live. To be honest I am shocked at the standard of kitchens/bathrooms anywhere I have seen so far. Maybe I need to get used to things a little more but I viewed 8/9 properties the other day and felt like crying when I got back. In fact, I did have a minor meltdown and blubbed a load of rubbish at poor OH for an hour and then consoled myself with more fried food. I know the ole pregnancy hormones are raging at the moment!!! :) I do admit that I am a bit of a Monica and OH teases me for my little OCD tendencies but I really thought we had a decent enough budget to get somewhere that didn't ressemble a student let! Thanks for the heads up Sunflower...will check it out! Will let you know what available Daisydog if you're interested! If anyone has reliable agent details they would be much appreciated too! Feb 25th sounds good to me. Would be so lovely to meet you ladies and your bumps. I have my first antenatal appointment on the 24th! Moonbeam...I have a feeling that my little one is playing games too...it kicks like mad under my top or covers in bed but the minute I pull my top up to get a better look it stops. Starting to think it doesn't like the cold A/C or it wishes its mother would stop embarrassing it and put her belly away. Sometimes when I use my belly as a book rest in bed it kicks to make me move!!! Ok..it probably has a point :) Anyway, sorry for the epic length post but it seems very therapeutic in stopping me feel sorry for myself. Hope you are are having a good day!

Glad the move went well Freckle, hope you're enjoying Dubai! I think we all remember those first few weeks out here, exciting but stressful at the same time! I'm sure you will find somewhere to live soon just call as many agents as you can and keep your options open, I saw a place up for rent in The Lakes recently its on with Cluttons - could be worth a call? Enjoy the movements ladies, seems like my little one gets a lot more active at night time, might have something to do with my obsession with choccie after dinner :) :)

Welcome back Freckle! Don't worry you will find something. It can be quiet daunting when you first land here and have to find a place. It just depends on how far you are willing to travel and so on. But you will find something;) Yeah it can get rather boring eating take out all the time, but enjoy it for now. Trust me there are times I get home from work and think 'I could really do without the hassle of cooking tonight!' How are you finding Dubai so far? Glad little one is doing ok, I know what you mean about the kicking! Mine won't stop either, she is always wriggling. today I was reasting my arms on my belly and she kicked them off! Its all down hill from here on I guess:):)

Hello girls! The move went well Daisydog! Living out of a suitcase at the moment. Managing to eat fried food everyday and itching to cook for ourselves again. Have been out to visit some villas but no luck so far. I'm starting to panic. I really like The Lakes area but there just doesn't seem to be much out there. Hotel claustrophobia settling in! Baby kicked like a pro footballer all night last night and got no sleep whatsoever. If anyone sees anything give me a shout. Moonbeam...I got Braxton Hicks (or Branston Pickles as OH calls them) very early too. My doctor friend at home in the UK told me that apparently we have them right from the start of pregnancy but only start to feel them later on. Have really felt a growth spurt in the last two weeks. Lots of pressure on pelvis, difficulty sleeping and the hourly trip to the loo every night just as I am nodding off. I don't really mind though. Can't believe baby will be here in three months time!!! Very excited. How are the rest of you ladies doing? Would be lovely to meet for coffee next time now that I have landed!

Still waiting for a date, but prob 37 weeks so around the end of April. We've had complications in the past and our Dr just wants to be on the safe side and get the lil one out as soon as possible. I'm feeling a little nervous about the op and recovery time, not really too sure what to expect... I've also started to have braxton hicks, I wasn't sure what they were at first and thought it was a little early but its all normal apparently!

Oh sunflower why are you having a c-section? How do you feel about it? Do you know when your date will be? The mother and baby market is normally every 6 weeks, they are usually held at star international school in merdif or umm sequim. I will post it on here when the next one is being held. You can get just about everything from there. I started to get braxton hicks contractions already! has anyone else started them?

Hi moonbeam and congrats! I hadn't heard of the mother and baby market, have you got the details? It sounds a good place to check out. Went for my check up last week and it looks like I will be having a c-section. Have my worries but at the end of the day its the best thing for the baby and thats all that matters, bonus is that I will have a actual date too. Have any other ladies had or are having a c-section? Myself and Daisydog met up today for a cuppa, was fab to meet another bump and have a good chin wag about all things baby! If any other May ladies want to meet up in a couple of weekends time then let me know :)

Hi Ladies, how is everyone doing? I have started to get my things together, DH insisted he wanted a moses basket, so we got one and a few other bits. We are not buying things brand new though. We went to the mother and baby market a couple of weekends ago and managed to get the basics for really good prices. The things were in a really good condition and some were even new! so really chuffed with what we got. I also made a list of things I still need and I'm ticking things off as i go along. I'm getting rather excited now. Daisydog I know how you feel, I really wish I could go over to the UK just for a baby shop! pushchairs are so much more expensive here and when i compare the prices to UK I just want to cry :(

Hi Ladies! I'm also due in May, and I'm also new to the site! This is my second baby, I had my boy in the UK, so a little nervous at giving birth here. I'm due on the 16th of May, and we found out we having a girl. Now the fun begins with choosing names! I'm currently at Medcare hosp with Dr Wafaa. So far she seems ok, but at the moment I'm only seeing her once every 4 weeks(ish) so hard to tell. I would love to meet up on the 4th but my son has been invited to a party, being the new mom on the block, I don't want to offend by not going! Have you all started to collect baby things yet? and does anyone know where the biggest mothercare is? I see the are on sale, but the one in Motor city is really small so stock is limited. Freckle good luck with your move, and I can vouch for the baby brain. The amount of times I have left home to drop my son to nursery just to realise when i get there that i have left his bag at home! aarrrrgh! Some of the dumb things I have done is enough to make anyone shudder!

Two days left in UK...should be making the big move this Wednesday! Minor meltdown when we realised my severe case of baby brain had caused me to pack my passport with the shipment that left for Dubai last week. Luckily, the company hadn't shipped anything yet and this morning we went to the depot and broke open several crates to retrieve the pasport. Close call! Looking forward to meeting you ladies. Have first ante natal appointment with Dr Braithwaite at the AH on Feb 24th. Hope you and bumps are all keeping well x

Would love to meet up but can't make the 28th, how about the 4th Feb? I'm not working at the mo so am free most weekdays also. What might be easier is if any ladies who are interested email me with where you are based to sunflower81expat at gmail.com. That way we can sort out dates and times and get to know each others first names! On a different note have ladies checked out the sales yet? Some places are offering up to 70% off (Mothercare, babyshop) might be the time to buy those essentials esp us first time mums as it actually makes items cheaper than the UK...
