Hi,
Im over 35 having my first child and my husband and I would like to do the Verifi non invasive genetic prenatal screeningfor Downs Syndrome and other genetic conditions.

Has anyone used their test? We're your results conclusive? If it wasnt conclusive, did you do an amnio and what were the results then?

Thank you in advance for sharing any of your experiences.

Hi Ladies, Just wanting to say thank you for your input. NP, i hope your Harmony results were good and you no longer need to worry. As for me, Im relieved as we spoke with my insurance company, and they have approved the test on a pay and claim basis, due to age factor. So, Im very pleased and ill be sending off my blood work early next week. I will keep you posted in case someone wishes for advice in the future. Thank you

I had the Harmony Prenatal non invasive test at 14 weeks as my NT scan's results were not very good and did not want to worry all through pregnancy. It cost 5.500 not covered by insurance. TEST DESCRIPTION The Harmony Prenatal Tests measure the relative proportion of chromosomes to aid in the riskdetermination of fetal trisomies 21, 18, and 13. The Ariosa laboratory developed tests perform adirected analysis of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in maternal blood and incorporate the fetal fraction ofcfDNA in test results. Test results also incorporate maternal age (or egg donor age) andgestational age-related risk based on information from the test requisition form. Tests have beenvalidated in singleton and twin pregnancies of at least 10 weeks gestational age. Tests are neitherintended nor validated for diagnosis or for use in pregnancies with more than two fetuses, mosaicism, partial chromosomal aneuploidy, translocations, or maternal aneuploidy. Analysis ofcfDNA does not always correlate with fetal genotype. Not all aneuploid fetuses will be classifiedas high risk and some euploid fetuses will have a high risk result. Results should be consideredwith other clinical criteria and communicated in a setting that includes appropriate counseling. X,Y Analysis measures proportions of the X and Y chromosomes. Fetal *** is reported and therisk of *** chromosomal conditions (Monosomy X, XXY, XYY, XXX, XXYY) are also reported at risksof 1% or greater. X,Y Analysis has only been validated in singleton pregnancies.

Yes we did, all was clear but they honestly said the risk of it coming back positive for any chromosomal abnormalities was very very low based on age, NT scan, bloods and movement of the baby and everything. We paid 7500 as we did it here in Abu Dhabi through my obgyn but she does it through FMC Dubai so I guess they both take a cut. I could have come to Dubai for it to get it cheaper as I think FMC is 4995, but whilst it wasn't covered by the health insurance our company pay for everything not covered by insurance anyway so we were fully reimbursed. Even if they hadn't though I would still have done it just for piece of mind as I was so stressed after finding out about the kidney issue. Good luck, am sure it will be fine if there are no other risk factors which have been highlighted, you need to do what you are most comfortable with. :)

Hi Bella UK, Thank you for sharing with me. I hope you received the result you were after in the Panorama test, and yes Amnio does carry more risks, but is apparently far more accurate. I personally think there is no real reason for me to do the test, a friend of mine here said i'm not really considered high risk at 36-37, but better to know now when I can do something about it and have less regret in the future. After all, its just a little blood test. If you dont mind me asking, how much was your Panorama test? Verifi is AED5500, and not covered by insurance.

I didn't do this specific brand of test, we did the Panorama one but it is the same thing. Ours were 99.8% accurate or something, very high. I did it for different reasons, as a kidney abnormality was flagged at our 20 week scan, which can be an indicator of chromosomal problems. I didn't want an amnio as I was told the risks of a miscarriage with an amnio were higher than the risk of there actually being something wrong, so we did the blood test. Just be aware it only tests for the trisomies (chromosomal) and not genetic conditions such as CF etc, that's a whole other set of screening and can only be done by amnio. For me I still thought it was worth it though as we got a shock with the kidney problem so I didn't want to spend the rest of my pregnancy worrying about something else too.
