Hi Ladies

DD has hit the six month stage. She has had a severe case of reflux since birth and displayed intolerance to regular formula in the past. She has been on S26HA for the past two months and it agrees with her. We started solids at the four month mark and she now likes her solids more than she likes her milk. I know we need to keep up her milk levels but I notice she is drinking less and less. Now that she is six months old, should we consider changing formula to a follow on milk?

At the supermarket today I noticed a HIPP Organic night time milk for six month olds - is this yet another variation? It looks like it is different to follow on milk and might be to encourage sleep???

Look forward to your thoughts - many thanks.

Hi there, I do understand your worries as my DD has the same problem since birth. I have tried different formulas, after and during breastfeeding, but each of them was coming with a problem. Either she didn't like the taste, or she couldn't pooh at all, or it was just not effective as an AR (Anti reflux) formula. So I went with HUMANA AR which comes both for stage 1 and 2 (means after 6 months old) and it was just perfect and tasty for her. I don't know though if you can find it in Dubai, but you can ask in any Drugstore. Hope it helped!

Thanks Kiwi, that's exactly what we are doing now. She'll have anywhere between 100 - 140ml of milk first and I mix as much milk as possible with her cereals/rice etc. I wasn't aware about the follow up formula so thanks for tip!

its my understanding that follow-on formulas are more for older babies that are having not much in the way of solids so need extra bits and pieces. I'd stick with the one she's on, most Drs say follow-ons are not necessary as from birth formulas are more like breastmilk in composition/nutrients make sure she always has milk right before solids, to make sure the solids are not filling her up too much for her milk. you can always add milk to her solids to make sure she takes enough.
