CONGRATULATIONS ELINO .......... Wonderful news!!!! How was the labour and delivery? I am STILL waiting and getting very very bored now. My bags have been packed for over a week and I feel it's never going to happen. I have been walking A LOT and eating pineapples but nothing has worked. I have an appointment tomorrow with my midwife as I am having the baby in UK so let's see if they can do anything to hurry it along. xx Hey Natasha ... Labour was totally not to plan ! I was so sure I'd have a normal delivery and instead ended up having a emergency C SEction ! Water broke 9 days early and after rushing to the hospital jthru early morning traffic finlly got to city hospital. Walked for 2 hours to get the contractions started but to no avail, then they strted inducing me thru iv. After a couple of hours of that they noticed lil one s heart rate dropping . Turns out my pelvis was too narrow. Dint see the point in siting Any longer and ended up have g a c sec. Lil one had a cone head when he ca,e out from all the pushing he did trying to force his way out thru my all too small passage ! But happy to report it's all fine now. Just getting to used to the sleeplessness and endless feeding cleaning. Cycle . The first few days home are the worst to be honest. I felt more like a zombie . It's gotten better now and everyone keeps telling me It ll only get better . So catch ur zzzzzzz s while you can and enjoy the ride : )

How is everyone feeling today? I'm getting more and more tired and not due until mid Sept. Everyone tells me to nap if I feel like it because I won't have time once the baby comes. I feel I'm napping twice a day. What day is it, I'm missing quality hours with all this napping! Has everyone packed their hospital bag? Feeling I might do it this week. What do I need to pack?

I know it is exciting. I've got 17 days to go, so strictly an August mum, but I really can't wait now. I'm finding the weight, the swollen ankles and bubs habit of pressing on the sciatic nerve all a bit draining, so it can't happen soon enough! Is anyone else feeling like this?

Hi all, I am due on the 5th Sept - although the baby is bigger than he should be, so I'm wondering if he may arrive earlier(!?) My husband is concerned about him being the youngest in the school year if he does, so I'm under some gentle pressure to last it out until the 5th. I'll be delivering in City Hospital. It's my first baby and my mum will be out from August to help out. I'm not too nervous about the birth. Friends in the UK had recommended 'Hypnobirthing' (the Mongom -sp?- method) to me and It's brilliant. Although I haven't been able to find a course here in Dubai, I love the affirmations and relaxation tapes and they've done a great job in making me confident about the delivery. ...don't get me wrong, I'm no new-ager, but they are great! Best of luck everyone!

direct2dubai replied : Hi gcommumtobe. we both have the same due date....i'm expecting a girl and also my first pregnancy. I'm in Australia and will be delivering here. Don't think I would've managed the Dubai heat while pregnant. Hi direct2dubai, we'll have to compare notes when you get back! How soon after the birth are you planning to return? :) DH is on project in Aus so will be here for a while. We can def keep in touch. I'm starting maternity leave in 2 weeks - cant wait as I'm feeling more tired. edited by direct2dubai on 09/07/2011

I'm finding it difficult to find neutral coloured outfits (haven't found out the ***) in Dubai. Think I'll buy one pink outfit and one blue anyway! I have way too many neutral baby grows in newborn and 0-3 months if you need any. All donations from other mums. I was looking at them the other day wondering how on earth they were all going to get worn! Aww thanks, although my friends keep telling me not to buy too many neutrals cos as soon as the baby is born I'll want to dress them in boy or girl colours so I'm probably worrying about nothing!

I haven't found the heat as bad as I had expected but I really hate the humidity. I've only been in Dubai since April and this is my first pregnancy. I've been keeping really well although recently I've started to get sore around my hips, especially at night. I'm wondering if it's the start of SPD (I really shouldn't google symptons!), going to mention it at my appointment Saturday. How is everyone feeling about labour? Is anyone else absolutely freaking out about the thought of pushing a baby out? I havent quite come to peace with the whole process and am terrified of it all ...........:\::\: I think the idea of it freaks everyone out, it's the not knowing what to expect. Has anyone else found that other people seem to like telling you horror stories the closer you get? I just figure that there is nothing we can do to avoid giving birth, so there's not too much point worrying about it. Everyone else gets through it and so will we. The best advice I've been given about labour is to be as prepared as possible and to learn all the breathing techniques either through ante-natal classes or pregnancy yoga. I also plan to take all the pain relief that I'm allowed!

I havent quite come to peace with the whole process and am terrified of it all ...........:\::\: I think most of us first timers will be anxious about the birth. It's hard not to think about it. DH and I have completed 4 antenatal classes and we have 1 more this Sat. We'll also get a tour of the birthing rooms. The antenatal classes were useful & interactive, especially for DH who has never changed a babies nappy! It also covers topics of breastfeeding, labour & birth (water breaking, the role of a support person, pain relief, birthing positions), baby blues (postnatal depression). Got the stroller, now looking at car seats...

I bought my pram yesterday and have ordered a cot, very exciting! I've still got loads of things to get but I delibrately left it late so I had stuff to keep me occupied over the summer! I am totally dreading labour and the thought of losing all dignity. I've been trying not to think about it but it's getting closer and closer. I'm such a wimp with pain so god knows how I'll cope!

I bought a beautiful crib and changing station from Pottery Barn just last week and Im waiting for the sale next week to go get the bedding and few accessories. Im heading out to the US at the end of next week so will be buying all my eletrical things like the baby monitor and breast pump from out there and then Im stopping on the way back in the UK to have the baby so the nursery here had to be sorted early. The car seat and stroller I'll get from either US or UK ..... basically Im buying as little from Dubai as possible because it's so expensive and the choices are limited. The hospital bag I have no idea about .... I will start looking for some comfy nighties but Im a bit unsure about what you're supposed to wear when you're actually in active labour .... some of my friends said they were so hot that they stripped off naked but I am really not comfy with that !! How is everyone feeling about labour? Is anyone else absolutely freaking out about the thought of pushing a baby out? I havent quite come to peace with the whole process and am terrified of it all ...........:\::\:
