Thank you so much Kiwispiers, I'm also worried about getting the same morning sickness as my sister because my mum also had the same thing but you made me feel much better. I just hope it happens to me too :). I'll keep lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, cut up and stored in the fridge incase I'm hungry and grab that instead of something not as healthy. It's actually funny, I'm acting as if I am pregnant but I prefer to get a headstart just in case I am. I appreciate all your advice, I'll definitely act on it and start to make changes. Thank you for the link too! :)

If you can't keep anything down then multivits are more important, but your body will give to your baby first and you will get whatever is left. I was worried I would be like that because my mother and aunties all had terrible morning sickness but I only vomited twice my whole pregnancy and both times were more car-sickness. You tend to feel sick when you let yourself get too hungry, so its important to nibble all day rather than having big meals, so you might want to chop up a bowl of fruit and vegies (carrot sticks, celery, frozen peas) to keep your tummy from getting too empty. I found I got terrible reflux when pregnant and couldn't eat spicy, greasy foods or drink fruit juices, eating lots of apples seemed to help with that. I also found that I'd feel sick if I didn't rest/sleep enough, I was so tired the first trimester I'd have a nap at 2pm each day. (the advantages of working from home). babycentre.com has lots of good advice when you are pregnant too

Thank you so much Kiwispiers! I'm writing everything down so I can hopefully start. I'll also go and get a blood test as soon as possible. I really appreciate all your advice, I've read everything but I just get worried incase I won't be getting enough of everything. My sister usually gets really bad morning sickness when she's pregnant, when I mean really bad I mean she constantly spits non stop and can't eat properly for 4 months straight. She even lost weight. What if that happens to me doesn't that interfere with the baby growing. Doesn't that mean the baby won't be getting as much nutrients as it can? Thanks again :)

start on a pre-natal vitamin or just folic acid while you get your diet in order, preferably before you start taking anything with iron, go for a blood test and get your iron levels tested so you know if you are low. I found that Elevit had far to much iron in it for me and left me seriously constipated so I ended up just taking the folic acid and eating well and my iron levels were fine throughout. Don't take a regular multivitamin as too much vit A is dangerous, you need one specifically for pregnancy. Try to get plenty of sun so you're vit D levels will be high. As far as diet, try and "eat a rainbow" everyday, as in have a wide range of colour in your foods, think strawberries, kiwifruit, apples, oranges and lots of leafy greens as well as good protein (lean lamb, beef, chicken, fish), buy the enriched eggs and if you are the kind of person who will eventually want o give your older baby organic food, it makes sense that you would eat organic food whenever possible yourself since whatever you eat your unborn baby is eating. Cut out caffeine as much as possible, completely if you can manage, no alcohol, no cigarettes, no shisha. I avoided anything with artificial sweeteners . Apart from that, everything in moderation, plenty of fruit and vegies if you can but if you're feeling nauseous and all you can manage is greasy chips or a slice of cake :) then so be it.

Hi ladies, I'm not sure whether I'm pregnant or not but I'll find out in a week or 2 when my period is meant to be due. But my question is regarding diet requirements, I read that you should be taking vitamins with folate before you concieve, I've started taking them today after I read that and is worried already. Also my diet isn't very good health wise, how should I be eating. I want to make sure that if i am pregnant that I'm giving the baby enough nutrients. It is said that it is best to think you are pregnant so that you can start giving your body the best nutrients as possible. I'm new to all this and I don't have my mum and sister here also I prefer not to say anything yet incase mum gets her hopes up for no reason. Thank you ladies in advance and I'm sorry if there are any silly questions in this post.
