just found out, that i m pregnant again.. 2nd month.
DS just turned 8 months, and does nt look like giving up any time soon breastfeeding.
What was your experience? I asked a midwife and she said he will wean off naturally.. ..

till the day i delivered....even on the morning. I too was on 3 feeds a day, so fed DS1 in the morning and then went to the hospital ( c-section) to have DS2....hardest thing I have ever had to do.... My Ds never self weaned but i think self weaning has a lot to do with mommy being too tired during preg and not being as cuddly as she was....so LO's just are considerate and give up... wow! that is impressive...!

designbabe how long could you breastfeed until delivery? i m now at 3 feeds (morning, afternoon and 11 pm at night) .. BFC, 28th is my birthday .. I would have loved to go there.. but we have plans .. thank you all for your answers..

My friend has four kids all of whom have 18months between them and she BF'ed all four until they were nearly 3 or self weaned. She continued breastfeeding while pregnant with all 3 pregnancies and then fed new born and toddler, no idea how she had the energy! Have only 2 boys - 22 months apart but b/f through the pregnancy and then tandem nursing till now (DS1 almost 3 and DS2 13 months old). The milk does not always go away completely but does drop a lot so you will have to supplement with complementary foods

My 16 month old self-weaned when I was 5 months pregnant. Apparently this happens a lot as the milk changes a lot at this point (tastes more like colostrum or something).

I breastfed DD1 until I was around 5 months pregnant. I had to wean her off myself though as she wasn't getting the hint LOL! She was two years old as well, so enough was enough!

I m not in shock :-) hehe - crazy lady! ;) As you know, I was pregnant with DS when DD was 1 (well, 12.5 months), but she'd already weaned herself... Anyhow, if having 2 under 2 doesn't fill you with dread, then you can tackle anything that life throws at you! Don't worry about the what ifs - there's so much you just can't plan (especially with 2!) that you've just got to ride the wave and deal with anything as it happens. Same goes for when one's had a nappy explosion and the other's puking up - prioritise and deal with it. Hey Congratulations! , My DS was 13 months or so .... when I found out no 2 was on the way I treid giving a bottle (formula)...what a nightmare ! so called my midwife and she also advised to let him self wean because the supply drops of a bit and the taste and consistancy changes by two months I noticed by one month DS was just not getting enough milk - so i again offered him formula and after the second or so offer - he took it happily he now knows what a bottle is about - and will even point to it when he wants it I think it was a good choice for us - so DH can get more involved with taking care of feeding no1 , I was very sleepy during my 1st trimester and then when no2 is around and also needs to be fed wont have to stress so much about no1 Goodluck Hope you have a nausea free first trimester

Hallo H.K.A. I m not in shock :-) I just hope DS will walk by the time the newborn will be there :-) But I m concerned how long i can actually breastfeed him .. as of now, I could not replace a single meal yet. wow - congrats! A shock, I'm sure, and it may take some getting used to, but congrats nonetheless! I have a friend who bf until she was 3 or 4 months pg and her then 13 month old self-weaned... or did he? Ach, can't remember. BUT it's apparently completely possible to bf 2 children of different ages. BFC will be able to shed more light on the matter, but it might be worth looking up "tandem feeding".
