Mine sometimes really needs one these days, although he went without for a logn while. Would be interested to hear. Thanks

DS turned 3 in June and I can still get him to nap during the day. I give him "quiet time treats" like a milo or a small bit of chocolate and send him on his way. I do curb the nap to about an hour though otherwise I can't get him down in the evenings.

My youngest will be three in early Jan. He has stopped taking day time naps for the last few weeks and goes straight to bed with his older brothers at 6:30pm.

Thanks for your replies ladies. I think mine still needs a nap on certain days, i just need to find a way of getting him to have one as if i suggest it, he says no i'm not tired mummy!!! When my son was like that I used to be pretty blunt...gentle, but blunt. I used to tell him that even if he didn't sleep, he had to have some 'quiet time' in his room. At first I made sure he stayed on his bed with a few favourite books and almost every day he would sleep. Once the naps did drop off, he was allowed quiet play in his room...no noisy toys...just something quiet, sitting on the carpet. Some days he fell asleep on the carpet next to his Thomas track. Bless his little heart. :D

Mine just turned three and naps from two to three hours everyday. If he doesn't he is grumpy all afternoon. Oh and his bedtime is 8pm-6.30am. edited by urban socialite on 02/12/2011 Exact same here and my 3 year old is the youngest of 3. They have all been on this schedule. My four year old still naps and if he doesn't he has a very difficult attitude. Ditto my 2 1/2 yr old has that routine :)

mine has his nap every day, cause our daddy is at home during his lunch break and he makes us all to take a nap so we won't disturb him :D LOL! Ditto! When daddy wants to sleep we all HAVE to sleep! My 3 yr old takes a nap too (for about an hour) on some days. But when he does his sleep time goes from 8 pm -7:00 am to 10 pm to 7 am.

DD stopped wanting to nap just before she turned 3. Since she has started FS1 in September she is so tired she'll have a nap for an hour.

only when he's really ill, or after a particularly "active" day at school. He stopped taking afternoon naps once his younger brother started walking, darn!

My DS is about to turn 4 and still has a little afternoon nap at nursery. His teacher said he's definitely a kid that needs one.... he turns into a grump otherwise. I am hoping to ween him off it soon though.

My 1st DS ( now 14), had day time naps until he was almost 5 1/2, DD ( now 12) napped until she was 4 1/2, DD ( 5) still naps 2 or 3 times a week, and DS ( 10 months) naps twice a day. 5 yr old DD needs a quiet time each day whilst DS has his afternoon nap ( my coffee time!) Even the older 2 still take themselves away to their rooms or a quiet spot to rest up and enjoy some quiet time ( reading /napping) most weekends.

By the time my older daughter was turning three, we had a newborn in the house and my son was at school. Every day she was happy to go to bed for rest time while the baby slept...she slept almost every day until she was at least three & a half. Now she's four & a half and she still has an afternoon nap at least twice a week. My son stopped day sleeps about the time he turned three, I think. My memory of that time is getting hazy! He's six now and no matter how knackered he is, if I suggest a daytime rest he looks at me like I poked him in the eye with a sharp stick. lol

my DD had an afternoon nap of an hour or two (usually as soon as she came back home from play school)... till she was 4... but that also meant a later bedtime of 9pm... the minute she started regular school we stopped the nap altogether and she goes to bed by 7pm...
