Hello Ladies,

I'm new to thread/forum,
On my way to Dubai from Australia in a few weeks, will be just over 20 weeks pregnant then. Any suggestions on good OB's.. I will be having a C-section...
Do I have to book in in advance or is it fairly easy, not much waiting?
How is the hospital system, do they allow hubby's to stay over night?
Do you have bubs in the room after birth?...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
:)

Ladies, Thank you both for your replies, I will see if i can book in with Dr. Faisal or Dr. Raj. ASAP. Im very glad to hear hubby and bub can stay in the room with me, I think i'd feel more comfortable with that as i did with my first bub... I like the idea and experience of the first few days of bonding.. I will follow the thread often, talk to you soon and thank you for your good wishes!

I have also had 2 c/sections at American Hospital and due to have another soon. I'm seeing Dr Raj ( based at the hospital it self) and am happy with her care. Booking the c/section is no problem, it's usually done around 1 month before and you do have some input as to which day you would like. You may have someone stay over in the room with you at an extra fee. I had my DH with me the first time and my mum the 2nd time. Both times I had the baby in the room with me most of the time, even when they had phototherapy (my request). They are quite flexible and accommodating. I have also heard good reports of City Hospital and for me, I would only go to one of these 2 hospitals. edited by kittycat71 on 12/11/2012

Hi Baslaefx1 I go to Dr Tazyeen Faisal, currently on my third pregnancy with her and I've always been happy with her care. My last two babies have been c-sections and this one will be too. She has clinics at Motor City and Jumeirah. http://www.drtazyeenobgyn.com/ I've only delivered at the American Hospital here (best for my insurance) and have never had to deal with the booking process as Dr Tazyeen does the booking. I think she does it around the 20 week mark although I could be wrong on that. My husband has stayed overnight, I think there might be an extra charge although it's a drop in the ocean compared to the overall cost! I don't think we've always been charged for it though. I've always had bubs in the room which on my last stay they encouraged although they do have a nursery if you want to send bubs off and get some rest. I'm sure if you look through some old threads you'll get some more views on hospitals and obstetricians. Lots of my friends have been happy with City Hospital although it's never been an option for me as it's only partial cover with my insurance and Dr Tazyeen doesn't deliver there. There are lots of factors that might influence your choice, where you live (I don't like driving for miles for appointments) and where your insurance covers (if you have insurance) are important. If you have a high risk pregnancy Latifa Hospital is the best equipped to deal with any issues. It's a government hospital but expats still pay. I hope some of that helps, good luck with the move.
