Medela nipple shields - please help - where can i buy them?

Hello ladies,

I was just hoping to pick your brains again. :) I've just had the most gorgeous little boy 11 days ago and we've just about managed the art of breastfeeding, but we have to use nipple shields to make it work. I've tried medela and avent, and medela are the only ones he gets along with. The hospital provided me with two, but I need to buy more. I know they sell them in mothercare dubai mall, but I live in Green community and I don't think I could do the hour and a half round trip needed to pick them up. Does anyone know anywhere closer that sells them? Any help will be massively appreciated. :)

You can actually buy them at any chemist, most have them in stock. I used the Pigeon shields, worked really well, thin silicone. Good luck and enjoy every moment with your new baby.

I bought medela ones at babyshop, but really didn't have great success with them. I thought he was feeding fine, but he was not gaining weight, staying jaundice and bowel movements slowed down. Come to find out these medela shields are made of a thick silicone so he was latching but having to use so much effort to get the milk that he would just give up and sleep instead of continuing to try. Anyway, there are ones in car4 by a french company called tigex, which are much thinner material and were much easier for my baby. Good luck with what works for you.

Ok, yes I know the mothercare in GCW, I also live there. I know it is very small, hence my suggestion of the one in ibn batt. But still, have a look in babyshop. They have a lot of items from medela ( at least the ones for manual/electrics pumps etc), so probably also the shields? Good luck;)

Hey Eden, Thanks for the suggestion, but we actually have a mothercare here in Green community. It was them that checked and said the only mothercare that stocked the nipple shields was in Dubai Mall. How convenient it would have been otherwise! Thank you anyhow and keep the suggestions rolling. :)

Hi And congratulations for your baby. Have you tried ringing mothercare in ibn battuta mall, or even babyshop in the same mall? I remember that they had a good selection of medela products, and ibn battuta is not as far as Dubai mall. HTH
