My cousin has a 10 months old baby, she tried to stop breasfeeding once but apparently her baby did not take bottle and used to cry all day long. So she is breastfeeding her again but is so frusrtrated. Can you share some tips on stopping breastfeeding?
Thanks lovely mothers :)

I did not get why she wants to stop breastfeeding if the baby is only 10months. Cow milk might not be the best, the nearest milk to our milk is camel milk and as long as she can keep far from any formula the better it is. Mine never took any bottle but could take any cup since he is 10months. Some babies might prefer sipy cups or drinking with a strow.

Assuming she's weaning baby slowly (dropping one feed at a time every few days), my advice would be: Don't wait till baby is hungry to offer her the bottle as she'll be less likely to try something new when she's impatient to be fed. Don't stress it as babies seem to be really good at sensing stress. If she doesn't take the bottle, readily offer the breast. Keep the bottle ready while nursing and after burping baby instead of putting her back to the breast offer her the bottle. If she plans to go back to work but would like baby to have breastmilk, might be a good idea to invest in a breast pump. That way she can also tempt baby with the bottle by offering expressed breast milk. Ensure she's using the correct bottle teat (in terms of flow and shape) for baby's age. Tell her to be confident it will happen. Just needs time and patience. HTH!

At 10 months baby doesn't need to be weaned onto a bottle anymore, so a sippy cup might work better - a lot of exclusively breastfed babies simply don't know how to drink from a bottle as it is a different technique than drinking from the breast. Also, baby is probably eating quite a bit of food now, too, so that might make it easier. What I strongly recommend is to go slowly with thw weaning and to replace one feeding at a time instead of just stopping, if that is possible. It will make it easier for both , mother and baby. If she just stops cold turkey she might have difficulties with engorgement. If at all possible and doable I would recommend for her to maybe even wait until baby is closer to 12 months and wean onto cows milk instead of formula. But that's just my personal opinion
