I am looking to get a maternity nurse by the end of the year but was shocked at the prices charged by some of these companies; Healthbay poly seems the most expensive ranging from add 6k to 12k depending on how long you take their nurse for. Has anyone had experience with Emirates Home or Dubai nannies? Ill be going in for elective C section hence need someone for one/two months to help out. I don't feel comfortable using just my current maid as she is busy with other things. Can anyone suggest any other companies or an idea if they have good bad experiences with the ones mentioned above ?

Thanks i too saw it and thank god in time. Will check out alternatives. I think health bay poly for few hours during the day is better. They have a good rep. Thanks again for posting me the link

Just saw this thread re Dubai Nannies - advisable to read it since it seems a number of people have had bad experiences with them :(. http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=193689 You could also try Belhoul hospital - they have a home nursing division and also Rochester. Both have been around for a long time.

If its of any comfort to you, inductions and emergency c/sections are notoriously bad experiences. Since you are having a planned c/section, it should be a much better experience for you this time round. All the best.

Thanks kittycat71. My last C section was awful after 14 hours of induction my recovery was very very slow in the UK. Im just premting from my last experience just to have help for 1 month at least after baby is born. Dubai nannies charge AED 3000 for day nurse to come help with feeding, bathing etc so i may just go for that option for one month and then see. I am so nervous about using any agency and was wondering if anyone had used them at all.

That is expensive just to help out with a newborn! I don't have any experience of those agencies, but I have had 2 c/sections myself. From my own experience, I did not need that level of after care or assistance. I think just someone who has experience with newborns is sufficient. Maybe you could specify that when you call them? There are lots of maternity nurses working as nannys due to the hassle/complexities of registration. Maybe the nanny agency has someone like that on their books.
