Hello lovlies! Glad to hear youre all doing well. I hit 32 weeks today - im dragging behind the rest of you, due 30 October. Do you guys feel like your babies seems to not do much and then grow overnight massively, every couple of weeks or so? My little girl certainly seems to - all of a sudden im finding moving around quite uncomfortable!! Ive also got some weird muscle pains right at the tops of the insides of my legs/groin - is this round ligament pain? Who knows, it hurts to lift my leg up to get in the bath or put my knickers on! Anyway no complaints apart from that and the usual acid reflux - i even have it when i wake up which is very odd. Ive brought a swiss ball and bouncing around on that seems to help with the various aches and pains and takes a lot of pressure off hips/pelvis. AW - good on you for wearing heels - if you can do it, why not?! I tried my heels for a meeting last week and after 2 hours my feet looked stupid - like marshmellows jammed into a shoe - I havent suffered any swelling during this pregnancy but boy did i after doing that - never again for me - i'll just have to look unprofessional in flip flops! Just under 5 weeks left at work - YAHOOO! Cant wait! Im hoping i can meet you guys then at one of the coffee mornings...you can bring your new babies along and i'll terrify myself with birthing horror stories - it sucks to be the last one - maybe i should join November!! :) Im off to hopsital this weekend for a scan which im excited about as its ages since ive seen bubs and im hoping she is no longer breach, which she has been up until now. Im thinking about getting a 3d pic if baby plays along and lets me see her face - my only worry is that when people show me their 3d pics they generally freak me out - sorry but some of them are so alien-ugly :) Or is that just me...haha. Has anyone else done this? Ive also booked ante natal classes at AH for 2 weeks time (2 day weekend course) - I was going to go Health Bay but husband put his foot down about a month of classes - he is already a bit worried about the childbirth videos - i think he was scarred from bad ***-Ed videos at school!! Anyhoo we've just finished getting everything we need for baby arrival - nursery is going to wait seeing that she will be staying our room for first 6 months and we only live in a 2-bed. We have to keep one room for family visiting after baby comes - im so glad my mum is flying over to be with me the first 2 weeks...she is like the baby whisperer :) Anyone else getting help from family? Last thing i need to do is pack the hospital bag - i have the stuff ready - i may need a suitcase....

Hi ladies! Glad everyone is fine. Counting down the days here. AW with back/ligament pain have you tried hot packs before you sleep? They helped a lot when I was having it regularly.. used to leave it for 15mins daily and then it subsided. Though it does come back occasionally esp when I've had a strenuous day. Have a great day all :)

I am also going to Healthbay on the 14th. We actually signed up for the Wednesday class but the 1st week we are attending the Friday to suit DH's schedule. Also going to do the city hospital maternity ward tour that day as they are only held on Fridays and we would like to be familiar with the place.

Good afternoon ladies, hope you are all well. At 32 weeks now, it looks like I’ve traded in heart burn for back ache/ligament pain as I’m all forward bump, and a sizable one at that too. Trying to get some pool time and DH downloaded a prenatal yoga class to do at home, so hopefully that will be sorted. Also, signed up for prenatal classes at Health Bay PolyClinic beginning on Friday 14 September. Anyone else going? I’ve had my fair share of tactless comments these past weeks, mostly chastising me for wearing (low) heels at work. What they don’t seem to understand is that looking and dressing well for me at this point is also motivating me to take better care of myself … eating right (a lot of green and leafy veggies, milk, fish, etc…), as well as exercise. We have our doctor’s appointment this Wednesday with Dr. Britt, which is always exciting as it brings us closer to the due date (October 31), though I will address this back/ligament pain as of late. From reading your posts, it looks like many of you are sorted with the nursery details and the hospital bag. Good on you! We’ve managed the car seat and the crib only, still quite a ways to go. Have a great afternoon everyone!

Welcome ZiGo and congratulations! I have just put together my hospital bag and look like I a going away for a month! I think I should check what they provide at the hospital as I have heard that they may have stuff that I don't need to take. I am going to try and go to the Bumps and Babes meet next Monday but as my toddler starts nursery that day I am not sure how it will go. I find out tomorrow when D day is!! Am nervous and excited!

Hi ladies, how is everyone.. I can't believe it's September already.. I have been feeling so prepared for the last couple of months now all of a sudden I'm freaking out thinking I haven't bought everything that's needed. Hi ZiGo, welcome to the group. I am also due October 31st with LO measuring ahead. I'm going for a final growth scan at 35weeks. I know this topic has been done before but was wondering what you are all packing in your hospital bag as a 1st timer i am finding it hard to decide what I actually need to pack.. I have been given lots of advice from others but if I follow all the advice I will be arriving at city hospital with enough luggage for a month. Dh and I escaped the heat once again and are currently in oz.. I couldn't ask for more perfect weather... Hopefully when we get back in 2weeks the humidity will have passed.. I feel we are all lucky having october babies as we don't need to worry so much about bubs over heating and we will be able to get straight out and about with them.. I will be back in Dubai from the 14th sept, will defo be looking to do a coffee morning and hopefully meet everyone. I hope those of you that have been working will by then be on maternity leave so we can all catch up. edited by ScottishGal4 on 03/09/2012

Good Morning to everyone! I am so new to this web page and forum but already finding myself going here for reference :)) Im due between 31st Oct and 3rd Nov! 31 weeks now:)))) went to see the Doctor yesterday and we were told that we have a healthy and big sized baby, he's already corresponding to the size of a 34 week one:)) so probably will have to be induced at 37 weeks if I want a natural birth! We are first time parents and are so far calm :) but I am secretly starting to freak out on how we are going to cope as we both work full time :/ I would love to get to meet you all at one of those coffee mornings... )))

Hi Ladies, How are you all doing? I have had a crazy couple of weeks with my toddler not sleeping and issues with the villa we have moved into but hopefully these issues will be resolved shortly. I have also started potty training my toddler as it was suggested that she was showing signs. So far I haven't managed to get her to do anything in the toilet or the potty but she likes taking pull ups off and being naked! I have opted for a c-section this time and at Latifa hospital they like to do it before your due date so I suppose you don't go into labour. This means the arrival of second bundle of joy is getting closer! They are going to confirm the date next Tuesday. It could be as soon as 3 weeks time! I am excited and nervous all at the same time. Latifa hospital did explain that they were shortstaffed in the sonography department hence the reason for the scans being booked at odd times. The doctor I saw this time asked me to arrange a scan privately along with two other tests so they can decide when to do book in the c-section. As I am supposed to have 2 scans included in my package I will ask about reimbursement for the one that they have requested I arrange privately. I had hoped to go to some Bumps and Babes coffee mornings before the second baby comes but I may only have a week between my toddler starting nursery and the baby coming so I am not sure if it will work. I am struggling with sleep at the moment in addition to my toddlers sleep issues so may want to use the time when she will be at nursery to sleep! But I will definitely be there when she arrives as I will want to be out chatting with other mums. Anyway my delightful toddler is happily throwing DVDs around the front room so I'd best go and sort her out!!

Forogt to say - taurusbaby - where did you get your decal from? We're looking for something to go on the wall but not sure where to look... Hi Jules! I bought it online from amazon.com and used my shop and ship account. I couldn't find any nice ones here and one I saw in pottery barn was quite expensive. This worked out cheaper. I'll email you the link... :-)

Hello hello! Gingerdee, that sounds quite scary, am so glad eveything seems ok now. Sounds like you were well looked after though. Yay for your stuff arriving from the UK - it's so nice to get your familiar stuff around you. Definitely start planning your nursery furniture - you've got loads of time still but it'll be nice to be able to plan leisurely and look at all the options etc. And it will be fun! Thanks (and to taurusbaby too) for sending through the antenatal classes. Not sure what we'll do about going to one - need to decide what one would be the best. What we may do is just go to the tour at the hospital (again!) one Friday and talk to the midwives then - since we already have our classes elsewhere we won't necessarily need more info from that point of view, I just liked the idea of getting to know the midwives a bit more. ScottishGal - the first class was good! I'm not sure if you'll have Dru or Dawn (we have Dawn) but I think both are really recommended. Second one tonight! Btw, I think you listed all the main options for nursery furniture... Shame there's no John Lewis! There are all the smaller independent stores in the baby area in Dubai Mall but otherwise just the ones you said. So I'm 33 weeks today - seems to be going so fast! Still having trouble sleeping, but had an amazing massage at Amara spa at the Park Hyatt at the weekend - would definitely recommend it! Ah yes, the EW coffee meet-ups. I am up for going to one of these, but need to find a time when I can be late for work in order to do it. Once I finish work (on the 20th Sep) I'll deffo be up for going more regularly. Gingerdee maybe I'll contact you about going some time in the next couple of weeks. And I haven't had many funny comments, but every time I see my doctor she estimates his current weight, and it's always about 500g more than my ipad app tells me it should be, so I am a bit worried that I will have a giant baby! She says all is normal though so we'll see :) Right, take care all. xxx

Hi all Thank you Jules, move in is going well, as in we are in and the air conditioning is working (phew!). We have appliances and our bedroom furniture is arriving today, after two nights on an airbed I'm very ready for a comfy night's sleep! We're still undecided as to what to do for living room and dining room furniture but I think we're getting there... And hopefully our shipment of stuff from home (kitchen stuff, pram, few baby things and electronics mainly) will be arriving in Dubai this week so we'll have it once it clears customs - hoping that won't take too long. Trying to persuade the husband to let me buy nursery stuff and get kitted out for baby as very keen to get sorted now (31 weeks now so clock is ticking!) but its hard when there's still so much other stuff to sort out. Had a stressful start to our long weekend, about to get ready for going out on Thursday and started bleeding - scary stuff. After a panicked trip to A&E at city hospital we were reassured that everything is fine, just 'one of those things' but fingers crossed have had no problems since. Cannot fault the care I got while I was there - they kept me in overnight for observation and the staff were lovely. I've now met three of the midwives there and would be very happy to deliver with any of them. It was an expensive night though - just over 3000 in total and our maternity cover on our insurance policy is only up to 10000 so we're definitely going to be forking out a fair bit. Still, I can't put a price limit on getting a healthy baby here safely! I've been going regularly to the bumps and babes coffee mornings (Monday and Thursday ones) and am really enjoying them, is anyone planning on coming along too? Can't say I've had any odd comments, but loving yours SG - what an odd thing to say!! I was a bit surprised when the midwife told me I was big for 31 weeks, and felt more like 34 - I thought I was looking fairly neat! Does that kind of thing freak anyone else out? I'm always a little scared by the idea of a big baby... xx

Jules - I've sent you info on City antenatal classes. Scottishgal - you've pretty much listed all options we have here! For dark wood I think the best selection I saw was in Potterybarn. We've been doing a lot of preparations as well. Nursery is almost done...got crib, changing table and rocking chair. Walls are repainted as well and put a lovely decal on one feature wall. Did a bit a shopping during the sales a few weeks ago and got some essential clothing and bedding. Car seat and pram picked up as well. Now just need to wash the clothes and pick up toiletries... Thankfully my heartburn is under control. During last visit to the doc she gave me Zantac which I've been taking and it is working great. The heartburn was getting unbearable and neither Gaviscon nor Rennie were helping...so am glad I don't have to worry about it anymore :-) the 'best' comment I have received so far from a colleague is: 'your belly is not too big....its because you are not resting enough' !

Thanks jules, the move went well.. Took a week to get rid of the paint smell so glad that's over.. Jules: how did you find the class at healthbay, i'm due to start on the 12th. I have looked in potterybarn but we were not 100% sold on their designs.. maybe i should do a round of the shops again, prob being overly picky.. mothercare M+P's Potterybarn Just kidding Is there anywhere else?? Has anyone experienced tactless comments from others? my funny conversation from yesterday with the lady doing my nails. Are you expecting twins? No... Your belly isn't pointy? no, should it be... I think you should start dieting now.. Thanks edited by ScottishGal4 on 16/08/2012

I can't decide on a cot, we are looking for something in dark wood.. I bought the stokke changing table but we are not keen on the stokke cot as it seems small.. Any recommendations on where to look? Maybe we missed something... Thanks Hi SG, hope the house move went well! We went for white wood but I think Pottery Barn Kids have a lot of dark wood options. Also maybe Mamas and Papas?

Morning ladies! Hope everyone is well. I've been a bit quiet recently as got totally engrossed in the Olympics - so amazing! - but now it's good to catch up with everyone's news. Gingerdee you're all moved in! That's amazing, well done. How are you getting on with furnishing it? Our nursery furniture arrived last weekend so that was quite exciting - it actually looks like a baby's bedroom now! :) We started antenatal classes last night too, at Healthbay Polyclinic. I'm thinking of going to at least one at City as well though, to meet the midwives again and get a bit more familiar with the hospital. Taurusbaby and gingerdee, if you have it would you mind sending me the schedule for the City classes (dates, times, what will be covered)? Would be much appreciated! :) Just looked a bit further down in the thread and have some things to add: sleeping now is a total nightmare! Cannot get comfortable, no matter what I do with any number of pillows.. Think that might be it now for a good night's sleep, till... forever! Have been suffering a bit with cramp in my legs in the night too which is lovely... Luckily not really suffering with heart burn or anything during the day, and even have quite a lot of energy in the day, so generally feeling fine really. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the long weekend, going to try to have a proper relax as work has been quite stressful lately. 8 weeks yesterday to due date - agh, getting closer! How's everyone doing for their baby shopping? Think I might try to finish most things over the next couple of weekends... Take care all xxx

Thanks gingerdee. The SensAsia one was very good but a bit too pricy, especially as this is something that I want to start doing every second week now, it really helps with the fluid retention. And congratulations on the villa! We’ve been in the Springs for almost two years now with our dogs and it has worked out well. Skipped the glucose test this morning as I was feeling not too well, so have it scheduled tomorrow. Really not looking forward to it. Anyone getting their home/apartment sprayed this summer because of bugs? We had the second floor of ours done and avoided the house for some hours, but did end up staying that night on the ground floor. I could still smell the pesticide, albeit faintly. Drove myself crazy thinking how this would affect the bump. Hopefully all is ok. We have another spray scheduled for this Saturday for the ground floor/kitchen and I may just check into a hotel that night. Don’t want to chance it again.

Hi everyone, I have good news, we have a house! We got the keys to a villa in the springs yesterday - thank goodness for that!feeling so much better about everything now, there is just the small matter of furnishing it! So far the only furniture we have is the swinging crib I got on dubizzle last week so we have a lot of shopping to do! AW I haven't had a pregnancy massage yet, but it was our wedding anniversary earlier this week and my husband gave me an IOU for Al Asalla spa in Dubai Ladies club at jumeirah apparently they have 25% off during Ramadan. he said he'd done some research and it comes highly recommended for their mum to be treatments, will let you know how I get on! :-) I'm finding sleep is getting more uncomfortable as I get bigger, thinking of investing in a maternity pillow to see if that helps! I'm not having the glucose testing, discussed it with my doctor but she was happy not to do it as I am not high risk and the test is not something that's routinely offered at home in the uk so I wouldn't have had it there either. I did have to have my anti d injection last week but that was fine, will have to cope with a lot worse that a little injection soon enough! Feels like the due date is getting pretty close now, I'll be 10weeks away on Sunday - eek! X

Hello All! Good to hear you're all well & sounds like City Hospital Maternity Wing will be doing a roaring trade in October!!! I am now 30+5 weeks, feeling great but HUGE! Sleep is also elusive and sometimes I get Restless Leg Syndrome at 2am, which is so bizarre, anyone else??? We have escaped the heat and am now back in Europe where I will stay until I deliver here. Will definitely be keen for the Bumps & Babies mornings when we return avec notre petit garcon in October... Hang in there ladies, the countdown is on!

Good morning ladies ~ Nice to read that the glucose testings went fine for you all. I have mine next Wednesday and dreading the no eating and especially no water for 12 hours. Has anyone had a prenatal massage? Any recommendations? I checked with SensAsia spa on the Palm and they seem to have a nice selection of mother to be massages and treatments. I sorely need this as I seem to be retaining a lot of fluid this week to the point that I can't get my wedding band off! That combined with the excessive burping, stuffy nose and heart burn is making me particularly endearing to DH this week, who is probably looking forward to week 40 when I finally stop complaining. Thanks and enjoy the weekend ahead!

Hi All. Welcome to Dubai Gingerdee - hope you are managing in the heat! I have been quiet for a few weeks as we moved to a villa and do not have internet yet. At the moment I am sitting in my hotel room in Goa which has both internet and TV! Yay! It is also 30 degrees here and quite windy with the odd rain shower so it is bliss compared to Dubai at the moment but hey we will be back to the sandpit soon enough! I had my glucose test a few weeks back and they said it was fine. The drink was pretty horrid. I have pretty much made up my mind to have a c-section this time and have told the hospital. They have given me an idea of when it would be and it is only about 8 weeks away... All of a sudden it is starting to become real. As this is my second it shouldn't come as a surprise but it has!! My sleep has been up and down for a while now and I know it is my body preparing me for what is to come. My hips have been better this time around. Last time a friend gave me a piece of foam to put on top of the mattress but under the sheet and this helped me greatly. This time I am sleeping with a wedge under my bump and a pillow between my legs and it is ok. Just feels a bit crowded when I am trying to sleep! Gaviscon is the way to go. I drank gallons of the stuff the first time around and this time I have tried to limit myself to when the indigestion/heartburn is really bad. Being a stay at home with an active toddler I don't think it would be a good idea to try and go any bumps and babes meets until my daughter starts nursery in September. She would not want to sit quietly and let me chat to any mums. I have worked out that there will be about 2/3 weeks between my daughter starting nursery and the baby coming so I think I will definitely need to be getting to coffee mornings to chat to other mums to be able to cope! Anyway hope everyone is well and enjoying the last trimester before the fun starts!

Jules - yay i guessed correctly - i had it down to you or the girl next to you - i was eyeing up bump sizes :) And yes that was me being kicked internally - baby is into Judo at the moment! I wont be going to Yoga for the next 2 weeks as i fly out to Cyprus on Friday morning and get back late Friday night next week - i may make it in the following saturday but im not promising anything:) But after that im there for sure. I will be 27.5 weeks flying out and 28.5 coming back so i should be ok with a DR letter. TaurusBaby - I totally understand about giving up work, i was contemplating the same thing if my work had refused my maternity leave request - its very hard going back so soon, especially if you plan to bf. Im going to give bf'ing a go, although im not confident about it.... Gingerdee - have you looked into Arabian Ranches? They are around the same price as Springs and the rooms are much larger and gardens bigger -its also closer to BK for your husband. We were considering the Springs a while back but found alot of the villas are boxy and the gardens quite small. I think you have to get lucky and pick a good villa - have you been looking on Dubizzle every day? Also FYI there are car parks in JBR that arent manned or have allocated parking so you could technically have 2 cars :) They just wont be in the same car park - some of the car parks are very empty and its an option. I agree with the high chiller costs - but again it varies from apartment to apartment - not all of them charge extra chiller costs/rental. Also its worth looking at other marina apartment blocks as some provide 2 car parks...the process is very painful though, i feel for you! Its why we havent moved in 3 years! That and the fact we got lucky on cheap rent. I would love to move to a bigger apartment though....*sigh* Oh and heartburn - yep - every day - Gaviscon is the miracle cure :) Although it tastes foul........

Luckily no insomnia for me and hormones are still in check. 3rd tri so far seems to be going as smoothly as 2nd tri....hope it stays this way till the end. Gingerdee - glad to hear you enjoyed the coffee morning. So far there's two of us interested in next week. So will wait if anymore interested and will then email everyone. Between Springs and Tecom, I would prefer Springs as Tecom is not built for walking around with a baby. Oh, I forgot to mention that main thing bothering me now is the heartburn! It seems to be getting worse and is not nice at all. Drinking lots of milk and eating ice cream hoping that it will help :-). Anyone else suffering from heartburn?
