Luckily no insomnia for me and hormones are still in check. 3rd tri so far seems to be going as smoothly as 2nd tri....hope it stays this way till the end. Gingerdee - glad to hear you enjoyed the coffee morning. So far there's two of us interested in next week. So will wait if anymore interested and will then email everyone. Between Springs and Tecom, I would prefer Springs as Tecom is not built for walking around with a baby.

Scurry: Is anyone else getting insomnia? I am tired but i cant seem to sleep much anymore. Its very sad as i love my sleep and this wriggly wide-awake person is just not me. My husband thinks ive been abducted and replaced by a stranger - one that cries for no reason and doesnt sleep! Sorry just read this, and yes here I am awake while hubby is sleeping, I'm always the first one to sleep! Once I'm off I'm usually ok though and as I just said, totally sympathize with the crying for no reason thing too! Flat hunting is going terribly as can't seem to make my mind up about what I want! I was all set to move to jbr or marina and not drive, but then made a u turn on that and decided that as I've never been without a car before I don't think now is the time to try it! I think I need the freedom to go where I want and when, and I wouldn't trust a taxi driver with the baby in the car. That means we now need something where we can park two cars and we also wouldn't be able to afford chiller charges in jbr on top of paying for two cars. Hubby is trying to persuade me to go to the springs, which on paper should be fine but I'm worried that we don't seem to be able to find one that is nice! Maybe I'm just being picky and unreasonable. I was thinking of tecom as an option as we'd get somewhere big with two parking spaces then but without any footpaths around I'm not sure it's the right place to have a baby. Thoughts?? Xx

Hey ladies how is everyone? Just a quick message to ask if anyone else has hit the third trimester and become a blubbering wreck?! Think hubby might think I've cracked up, the slightest thing seems to be setting me off it's not exactly productive when we're still trying to find somewhere to live! just me? Also I went along to a coffee morning today and it was really nice, met some lovely ladies - would definitely recommend it and hope to see some of you there next week if you can make it? Xx

Hi girls! Good to hear from you all. Scurry you were at the yoga!! Me too! I was right next to the teacher, on her right, in pale lilac vest and grey bottoms. So were you on her left, with one lady in between you and her? I think I know who you were - you mentioned baby kicking at one point didn't you? Brilliant, so are you going next week? We'll have to meet properly if so! Such good news about hubby's job, that must be a relief :) Holiday will be fine if doc has approved it. How many weeks will you be when you return? Make sure your doctor's letter clears you for the return flight too. Hope moving goes well SG :) Taurusbaby - I may be able to take a couple of hours off work to go to the coffee morning... Next week would be better though - can you let me know what you guys decide and I'll see if I can make it? Where are they being held at the moment? Most cafes are closed aren't they? It is HOT isn't it?! My first summer... Loving the Olympics though :) Take care all xxx

I work too but thought I'd take a couple of hours one morning and attend. Will wait till next week when hopefully they'll be more of us attending. I would love to go an short holiday right now but I can't. If doc says you are good to travel then it should be fine and Greece is not such a long flight anyway. Enjoy it! I have decided not to return to work after my maternity leave as I would have had only 45 days plus a couple more weeks of vacation which I didn't feel was enough. I gave my notice and will be using my maternity leave as part of my notice period and won't be going back. I'd like to have up to 6 months at least before I can even think about going back to work again.

I'm moving villa at the moment so I'm going to be busy the rest of the week. Would love to go to a coffee morning with some of you next week. We can all be newbies together. Scurry777 fantastic news about Dh. I'm sure you will both have a memorable holiday in Greece. Enjoy! edited by ScottishGal4 on 29/07/2012

Morning all! Dont you just hate sundays?! I went to yoga yesterday Jules did you? If so what were you wearing so that i can work out who you were! I was in black vest and gym pants, one down from the teacher. I think i worked out who you were but i may be totally wrong!I really enjoyed it although baby almost certainly did not, she kicked me all the way through in the ribs. She also kept me up all night by kicking my down below areas - ouchy! I think she has decided there isnt enough room in there and is trying to kick her way out. Is anyone else getting insomnia? I am tired but i cant seem to sleep much anymore. Its very sad as i love my sleep and this wriggly wide-awake person is just not me. My husband thinks ive been abducted and replaced by a stranger - one that cries for no reason and doesnt sleep! For maternity leave im adding holiday & sabbatical on to 3 months paid leave and 3 months unpaid leave - it works out approx 8 months off - back in June 2013. Im really looking forward to it. Im also going to take a week off next week and husband I are going to have our last holiday fling before baby comes - to Greece. Do u guys think travelling this late will be ok? I will get a letter from the Doc to say i can fly. We are also celebrating as husband finally got a job after 9 months unemployed and he starts in Aug - YAY!!! Such a relief! gingerdee - hows the flat hunting going?

Good luck with the glucose test Scottishgal! I don't usually go to the EW meets but if there are a few of us from this thread interested in going I would go as well. We would catch up there and at least we'd 'know' someone. There's one on the 30th and another on the 2nd. Anyone interested email me and we can exchange numbers and arrange to meet there: tbabydxb at gmail dot com

Im also due october 31st and scheduled to deliver at city with Dr Elsa I have my glucose test scheduled for saturday, dreading it! As i have developed quite the sweet tooth in the last 5weeks. For someone who doesn't normally like sweet things i feel like im over doing it slightly but cant be sure if its a normal amount. Is anyone going to go to one of the EW bumps coffee mornings at G+D park? edited by ScottishGal4 on 26/07/2012

Great to see the comments here about Dr. Britt on this forum. We met with her last week and are now at ease for the delivery. My husband was sold on her when he saw photos of her dogs on her desk and then decided to show her ours. :) Next on the list is a tour of City Hospital, followed by antenatal classes at either City or Health Bay. Has anyone tried the antenatal yoga at Zen? I have a prenatal personal trainer for the past 4 months who is brilliant and has kept me in great shape, but I need to work on my flexibility at this point.

Sorry to hear about the apartment you liked falling through gingerdee... I live up the other end of the Marina from the Amwaj JBR end (nearer the Torch) and I do really like it as there is so much to walk to - think it is slightly more developed than the other end. The Torch itself is a bit further from the shops and cafes of JBR though - you'd probably mainly use Marina Walk, which is really nice and really close. It's a shame it's too hot at the moment to have a walk around and an explore... I don't know JBR that well, but have been told that Sadaf and Murjan are good buildings - think they are up my end. I like that from where I live I can walk to both the Marina Walk and the JBR walk. Just had a quick look on propertyfinder and there are quite a few 2 bed apartments available so hopefully you have a bit of choice :) AW - I'm also working... Hoping to add unpaid leave to the 45 days and then a bit of paid leave as well. Will still feel like very soon to return to work though I think - it will be tough... Scurry - yoga on Saturday? I'm going to be there! :) edited by *Jules* on 26/07/2012

Scurry - I'm due one day after you - October 31! Have yet to take the glucose test but have one scheduled shortly. Anyone working throughout their pregnancy? Are you going back to work afterwards? I'll take the 45 days paid leave which is mandatory in UAE, followed by about 27 days of vacation days racked up. I'm feeling guilty though as that might not be enough time off. Workpace is great about it though and will look into the possibility of part time work when I'm back. Let me know if you're struggling through the same.

Well the apartment we'd seen in amwaj got snapped up while we were negotiating cheques etc, we're going to continue looking there, but also thinking about looking elsewhere in jbr and in the marina- any building recommendations? we went to the torch yesterday which was lovely but would need to negotiate on price and not sure if being at that end of the marina would be as good or if we should stick to the other end to be closer to jbr, what are your thoughts? Thank you so much for all of your help so far :-)

A very warm & sweaty welcome gingerdee! I also live in the marina (just behind JBR) and love it - traffic can get a bit noisy in the winter months so I would recommend a higher floor or an apartment facing the sea - we are just behind JBR in a 7th floor apartment and sometimes the noise gets a bit much - im hoping the baby will be a heavy sleeper. Apart from that I love the marina so move here! :) Hubby will be able to get to work at Burj K in 20 mins which isnt bad - I work at DIFC and it takes me that long. Jules - I also went to the docs on Saturday AM - I had my glucose test on Thursday and they found that I had low haemoglobins so I had to go back on saturday and get Iron tablets. So im glad i had it done and that they tested for other things - we are very spoilt in Dubai arent we? Im not in my 3rd trimester just yet - im lagging behind as im not due until 30 October so im only 26+1. Nearly there though :) So Saturday - yes am going to make an effort to get there - assuming no more sleepless nights and doc dashes to stop me :)

Gingerdee - I live in the Marina and really like it - think here and JBR is a good place to live with a baby as there's lots you can walk to. The beach is nice too. Exciting! AW - I had the glucose tolerance test this morning. Get my results in a couple of days. Was fine really - just a lot of (hungry) sitting around at the clinic, and drinking the slightly yucky sugary drink! Anyone else had theirs? :)

gingerdee - DH and i used to live in the marina, we loved it there. I think it is one of the best area's you could live in dubai, especially being new and having a little one. Plenty of places to walk, which in dubai is a real find. We lived in the marina for 2 years before moving to AR, we often still go down to jbr for breakfast and a swim.. Happy apartment hunting..

Our consultant appointment went great yesterday, very happy with dr britt, feel really relieved now that I have confidence in the maternity care side v things, not that I was really worried but it was hard to feel confident in the unknown! We got to see the baby again, which is always lovely. In the uk our midwife couldn't tell the gender, but yesterday it was apparently obvious, we looked away as we want a surprise but it's weird to know that the doctor knows what we're having! House hunting went quite well too, we saw an apartment in jbr we really liked, only 2 beds but good sized ones and with a great view. I think living in that area with a little one could be really nice with being able to go out for walks with the pram and having plenty nearby to walk to as I'm not sure how happy I'm going to be driving here! Is anyone else in jbr? Like it?

Hi taurusbaby, I'll send on that info to you. Glad the hip pain has eased off :) Gingerdee, if you'd like some advice on anything to do with settling in here, feel free to contact me on julesdxb2012 at g mail dot com. It doesn't feel that long since my husband and I relocated from the UK so I'd be happy to give you some pointers. I agree with taurusbaby that taxi drivers can be hit and miss, but it never stops me using them - they're generally fine.

Hi ladies! Jules - could you please send me the antenatal class info by email? Healthbay is close to my place would be convenient for me to attend their classes. Glad to hear the final results were good Scottishgal. Now you can relax and enjoy these last few months :-) Welcome to Dubai Gingerdee and hope you find find a place soon. Happy to help with any information that you need....just let us know. Regarding taxis, its kind of hit and miss....sometimes you'll get a really nice driver but other times you might get a formula 1 wanna be! But you can tell them to slow down if you feel they are going too fast and usually they will listen to you. I've been swimming in the evening twice over the past week and find that my hip pain has disappeared :-). I've also stopped using the pillow between my legs so not sure if this or the swimming that has helped. I'll just have to keep doing both I guess. Swimming is good for me as I don't think I will ever muster the will to go for yoga or Pilates.

Hi Ladies! Hope everyone is doing well :-) Am also having pain in hips but not from sitting at the desk....its from sleeping! I've been using a pillow between my legs for some time now and it was helping but now not so much. Anyone else with this? Sorry Silkie, don't know for sure but I do hope that City is pro natural as I will delivering there as well. I would guess it depends more on your doctor than the hospital right? If doctor knows your preference then she should carry it out.... Hi taurusbaby Which doc are you seeing @ City hosp? Hi Silkie! I've just started seeing Dr. Britt at City and happy with her so far. Was seeing another doctor since the beginning of my pregnancy but had to change to one within my insurance network as reimbursements with previous doctor was becoming a hassle. Am seeing her again in a couple of weeks and hope to discuss a birth plan with her then.

Scottish gal so pleased you got your results back, you must be feeling so much better, fingers and toes crossed we all have an uneventful last 13weeks or so! The weather in the uk has been horrendous the last few weeks, I know it would be a relief to get out of the heat but you must be glad to get out of the rain! I was looking at the coffee mornings thinking it would be a good way to meet some people, but it is a bit scary! there's one on Thursday might venture out if I'm feeling brave-I have no idea where things are just yet, is everyone happy using taxis on your own over here? *jules* we're still looking all over the place really, from jbr and marina to business bay to the springs. Wed really like to have a comfortable guest room for relatives coming to stay and ideally would be in an area with plenty other expats and some things to do within walking distance, but our budget is fairly modest so just trying to decide where to make the compromises. My husband works near the burj Khalif so got to take his commute into account too, there's a lot in jumeirah lake towers but have heard traffic is a nightmare there! Decisions decisions eh? Will definitely keep you updated on my progress :-) x

Welcome to Dubai gingerdee! You have picked a hot time of year to move here! Good luck with finding somewhere to live - do you have any ideas on areas yet? City hospital is very nice, I think quite a few of us are delivering there. Keep us updated with your settling in :) And ScottishGal, I'm so pleased that all the tests have come back ok - it must have been quite a stressful time for you. Now you can relax and enjoy the last 3 months :) Antenatal classes - I was recommended Health Bay Polyclinic so have signed up there. You can either go on Weds evenings or Friday mornings. I have all the info so will send on to you if you like. Coffee mornings - I'd really like to go but difficult with work... If some ladies pick a day to go I could try and make it one morning - I am really keen to meet other mums to be, especially first timers! Marina Mall would be the best place for me if that works with others. xxx

Hi ladies, Great to see everyone is doing well and welcome to dubai Gingerdee.. Sorry i disappeared for a while had to do a quick dash to the uk. We finally have all 3 sets of anmio results back and they were all normal. Hopefully we can enjoy these last 13weeks without any more surprises. I have been thinking about signing up for ante natal classes and seem to be favoring the ones held by healthbay clinic in jumeirah.. What is everyone's thoughts? as a 1st timer all advice is welcome. Gingerdee, hope you like city hospital. I have heard wonderful things about dr britt so i'm sure you will be in good hands. I am also delivering at city hospital lastly was thinking about going to a expat bumps coffee morning was wondering if any other 1st timers where going to attend one as i feel nervous about attending a coffee morning not knowing anyone..

Hello ladies, hope everyone is doing well? I arrived in Dubai last night, it really is hot isn't it?! Feels like we have a lot to do in the next few weeks, starting with finding somewhere to live, we're staying in an apart hotel paid for by my husbands company at the moment but are going to be looking at as many places as possible to find somewhere to rent. I have an appointment with dr britt at city tomorrow, went with her after reading lots of recommendations on here, wanted to see someone as soon as possible after arriving to try to make sure I had a doctor I'm happy with and that I know where I'm going to get my care! Id love to do some sort of exercise class, can anyone recommend anywhere? I have no clue which area were going to be living I just yet so might be better if I wait until I do and then you can give me some tips on places to go? Really excited to be here, think the last 13 weeks of my pregnancy are going to fly over! X

Hello ladies! Hope everyone is well. Taurusbaby - I know what you mean about sleeping uncomfortably. I was using a pillow too but have recently changed to one of those v-shaped pillows - I have part of it between my legs and part supporting my bump. It seems to be helping so I recommend it! Regarding City hospital, I think natural vs c-section depends a lot on your doctor - I've heard a lot of doctors are more for one or the other. But it should mainly come down to what you want - I really want a natural birth as long as I can do so safely so am pushing for this with my doctor. Just realised this is exactly what you said taurusbaby! Scurry77 - did you go to yoga yesterday? I couldn't go as had an appt with my doctor (was lovely seeing the little one on the scan again - was my first appt for 6 weeks!) but I'm definitely going next Saturday. Are we all in the third trimester now? Seems to be flying by these days... xxx
