Hi Ladies! Hope everyone is doing well :-) Am also having pain in hips but not from sitting at the desk....its from sleeping! I've been using a pillow between my legs for some time now and it was helping but now not so much. Anyone else with this? Sorry Silkie, don't know for sure but I do hope that City is pro natural as I will delivering there as well. I would guess it depends more on your doctor than the hospital right? If doctor knows your preference then she should carry it out....

Hey all Just jumped from Nov thread to this one! I'm due end Nov & all has been ok so far... Scurry77 Yes, i have the same feeling as you after being on desk even for like 1&1/2 hrs at a stretch... Morning begins fine, but as day progresses it really get difficult to be constantly at desk. I then have to walk around... its very difficult during meetings/conferences when you cant just get up & walk!! I'm not sure if its sore or what, but definitely its different & tough!! Also, regarding hospitals, I see so many positive responses for City, here & on other threads... does anyone know if they are pro-natural or pushing for c-s? I've almost finalized City for my delivery but dont want to have a c-s unless absolutely essential. Any advises? Hi Jules! You naughty girl, trying to set up secret meetings!! haha. Its true though that this forum is a bit biased towards SAHM. Us poor 9-5s dont get coffee mornings to meet up at and shoot the breeze... No i didnt make it to yoga- i had a very bad nights sleep on Friday - my hip was killing me and i couldnt get in a comfortable position all night. I woke up feeling very sore and tired and sadly not in the mood for yoga. Im finding my hips are getting sore after a week of sitting at my desk - anyone else getting problems sitting at a desk all day? Baby really doesnt enjoy being at work and likes to take it out on my ribs as well. I am DEF going to go this weekend - i assume its all still running during Ramadan? I think it starts this weekend. x.

Hi there, we're so sorry but it's not allowed to arrange meet ups through the information boards- for various reasons- check out the rules of the forum here... http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_faqs_forum_rules_8392.aspx We do run lots of Mums & Bumps groups and coffee mornings so you could arrange to meet there... here's the details... http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_events_whats_on.aspx HTH Sorry Admin, didn't realise we were breaking the rules. I think the reason we were organising our own separate meet-up is because the EW-organised ones are only on weekdays and several of us ladies work in the week. Would you be able to organise a mums and bumps get-together on a weekend? If not, perhaps we should try to organise one off the forum somehow. Thanks :)

Welcome back Jules. Glad you had a good time. We already agreed a time and place for the catch up but for some reason those posts have been deleted from this thread. There was an email address we could contact to get more details.....unfortunately I didn't manage to write it down before it was removed. Can you ladies post it again? Or send me a note on my email: tbabydxb at gmail dot com Thanks :-)

Hello ladies! Hope you're all doing well. ScottishGal - glad to hear you've had some good results from the amnio, I really really hope this continues. I'm back from my holiday - so lovely and relaxing, and nice to catch up with family and friends back home. So many of my friends back home are having babies as well which is lovely, but makes me want even more to sort out our little meet-up so we can share some things in person :) Btw I think I've said this before, but for the new ladies who have been asking for info on doctors etc, I'm seeing Dr Grace Jacob at Dubai Mall Medical Centre. She's very nice and professional and I feel very comfortable with her. She has also had lots of good feedback elsewhere on this forum. As DMMC is part of EHL, that means I'm automatically registered at City Hospital which is also EHL, and Dr Grace delivers there (I think she also sees patients there on Thursdays). I looked around City Hospital before I went on holiday as they do tours on Friday mornings. It was very nice, although made me quite emotional! I am covered for the maternity care by my husband's insurance, although I did see on the price list that the price for the delivery (which includes normal delivery, 2 nights' stay and associated medical care) is about 11,000 AED. It is more for a c-section. Oh and also I'm going to get back to JBR Exhale yoga this Saturday - haven't been for ages because of being away - so if anyone else is planning on going, let me know! Think I'm going to find it hard to balance - my bump is so much bigger than the last time I went! xxx

Hi 11legs, Thank you for your replies, will be calling Latifa and al bahara first thing in the morning tomorrow to gets things sorted. The 20 week scan will probably have to be done privately since im running quite behind schedule with things.

Hi Lilypad28, I am sorry but I have not heard of Al Bahara hospital so can't help there. You need to call Latifa hospital before 2/230pm (can't remember exactly what time) but I am not sure that there is much point until you have a health card. I know its very busy there so it might just have been bad timing to find no one there last weekend. A week day would probably be better. I got my health card from Al Bada'aa clinic even though I had been to Safa twice and they have written on my health card that Safa is my local clinic?. You have to take all of your papers, i.e. tenancy contract, passport copy, husband/sponsors passort copy etc. There is probably more information on here or on the DHA website as to what you need to take exactly. I did it a few months back and it took a few goes to get it right. I think it cost 210 AED and I had to pay in cash. You can't make an appointment so its a good idea to go in the morning. Once you have the health card then you need to register with your local clinic. I registered at Safa who asked me for details of the pregnancy. They then gave me a referral letter for Latifa. At this point you can then phone Latifa to make an appointment. It take a bit of time to get this sorted so I would advise you to do this as soon as you can so you can get your anomaly scan booked to make sure everything is ok with your baby. Good luck.

@Blume: Welcome & Congrats! TimeOut did a great extra 'mini magazine' special last October in their Kids magazine for expecting mums, that I kept & it had all sorts of pregnancy info like hospitals & their expected costs, doctors/clinics, shopping, exercise, massage, ante natal classes, everything. So maybe you could look on time out website for costs.

Greeting to you all Ladies! I am new in this community but so glad I've found it ;). Currently I am in 23 weeks of my first pregnancy and my due date will be 25th October. I have been visiting City Hospital with Dr. Britt since my 7th week. Since this is my first pregnancy, is there anyone can share the information how much does it cost for normal delivery and c-section? Thanks and bestwishes.

Hi 11legs, Thankyou for your detailed reply, I am actually in the same situation you are, insurance wont cover much, thus was advised by the doctor I am seeing to either register in Latifa or Al Baraha Hospital, mostly because of the NICU care over there. Since NICU costs at private hospitals are extremely high. Unfortunately there does not seem to be much on Al Baraha hospital here but Latifa seems to be popular. I just tried calling Latifa hospital at 4 pm but no one picked my call. Also visited the hospital last weekend only to find no management on the desks. This has left me quite confused, Is the management side really quite bad? or was it just bad timing on my part. Can you also please guide me how to go about the health card? Quite clueless about that. Sorry for asking so many questions.

Hi Lilypad28, I think I rang Latifa hospital when I was around 14 weeks and they explained that I needed to be referred through a local clinic. Once I had been to Safa clinic and had the referral letter I phoned them back and got an appointment which was about 2 weeks later when I was about 16 weeks. I decided on Latifa because my insurance doesn't fully cover any of the private hospitals and I have read that if there is an emergency then Latifa is the place that you would be referred to providing that you are registered with them. I did read that some private hospitals (none were named specifically) could not deal with all pregnancy complications so for peace of mind I registered with Latifa. I think Latifa is fine but I have nothing to compare it to as I had my first child in the UK. There is a lot of waiting when you have your appointments, usually at least an hour after your allotted time and you never see the same doctor but the nurses are friendly enough. I did read that some pregnant ladies continue with their private gynaecologist and also attend check ups at the hospital. I couldn't afford to do this although I can understand why. You have to ask questions and make sure you are happy with what you are told as the hospital is very busy and appointments are quick. With private healthcare you are likely to have the same doctor and more time to discuss any queries at appointments. This is my second baby so I don't have many questions except wanting to know about the delivery and my options. Just so that you are aware the scans that you require may not be at the time you expect them. e.g. my 20 week anomaly scan was at 23 weeks and I think someone else had to wait until 28 weeks for their anomaly scan. However, you have probably had scans elsewhere so this may not be an issue if you have to wait a while for your anomaly scan. I would prefer it if the hospital was closer to where I live as I am not used to being more than a walk away from the nearest hospital but this is Dubai and everywhere is generally a car journey away. It might be a idea to visit the private hospital that you are contemplating to see how you feel about it. I don't think you can visit Latifa hospital but am not sure. Anyway hope this helps with your decision. It is a relief once you have registered somewhere!

Morning All. Hope everything is ok Scottish Gal. There is nothing worse than doctors not reading notes properly and making judgements and drawing conclusions on half the information. We are definitely moving in mid July but not sure of the exact date yet. Maisa - I had another check up at Latifa hospital yesterday. I saw a different doctor who was better than the last. The nurse I had was really nice and wanted to make sure that I was getting everything I should with my package. With the package you are entitled to 2 scans, namely 12 week and 20 week, however, I had already had my 12 week scan elsewhere. The nurse said that she wanted me to get my moneys worth and said I should book another scan. I did laugh as the earliest slot they had was 27 September! I might have had the baby by then!!. I explained to the lady who then found a cancellation on 20 September. I can't quite see the point of it but as the nurse said I have paid for it. After the sonographer not saying much at the scan, the doctor looked at the paperwork and said the baby looks perfect but the sonographer was a bit concerned as there is slightly too much water. It would have been nice to have known at the time but I guess its not that serious otherwise they would have got me back sooner. I am now having a Glucose Tolerance Test to check for Gestational Diabetes (I think from my reading) to see if this is why there is too much water. I am hoping that this is nothing to worry about and that it will sort itself out. The doctor said that I need to decide at 34 weeks about my delivery; i.e. c-section or natural. I am swayed towards a c-section at the moment but she was saying that if I have a c-section for this baby (first being an emergency) then I could have only one more so it depends how big a family I want. I can only just about get my head around two never mind anymore than three. Anyway ladies hope to meet you all in July. Hi 11legs Hope everything is going well with your pregnancy, I just needed a bit of help here, Im torn between either opting for Latifa or going to a private hospital. Can you please advise as to how has your experience with them has been so far, also I have read that you can only register with them till 20 weeks, is that really true?, I am 19 weeks currently so in a state of panic since I have not decided yet. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Im feeling a bit slack as I still havent made it to Yoga at Exhale on JBR but im determined to go next weekend! I always seem to end up having something better to do. I have so much to do before baby arrives in terms of looking and booking a nursery place, investigating anti-natal classes, looking at delivery options, re-decorating the flat, buying all of the things I will need for the baby, .....for the last one it would be good to talk to you guys about options - as a FTM I have no experience and other forums are making me second guess everything e.g. im thinking about getting a cot with drop-down sides but ppl are anti-drop down sides these days due to safety concerns....and also concerns over using bumper pads in cots? Would be really good to discuss and get your opinions before I go out and buy. Best of luck ScottishGal4 - you should def switch Dr's and get some piece of mind that at least someone is assessing your case and looking after you - if you want to look elsewhere I recommend Dr Braithwaite at American Hospital - she is very experienced, from the UK and is the kind of Dr you cant help but put your trust in.

The diagnosis was incorrect and some of the information regarding the diagnosis was missing. The Dr apologised as she hadn't proof read the results. Then to make matters worse she told me everything in the scan was the same as before however once I returned home and looked at the results It states that I have a cyst measuring larger than the last time. They were to quick to suggest a amino but don't even spend the time checking the results.. Going to n9ne clinic on Sunday hopefully we can get this all sorted out. If there is a problem I accept that but I want to be sure and have faith in the Dr I am dealing with.

Scan came back today same as last week, however my paperwork from last week was all wrong which has now left me doubting the FMC. I'm thinking about going to n9ne for another opinion. What do you ladies think? What was wrong with the paperwork? I would definitely go for another opinion if you have doubts about the scan. If nothing but for your peace of mind....
