Ladies,

Have been recommended olive oil for massaging my baby. Is there a particular brand that I need to look for or just the normal stuff off the shelf?

TIA

few days back i posted the same thread and was recommended by other posters about almond, olive or rapeseed oil (canola oil). just look for the cold pressed olive oil.

If possible avoid all those baby oils ! Try olive oil or almond oil… These oils provide nutrients and moisturize.

I did a course in infant massage many moons ago and massaged both my babies every single day. I still massage them and they are now 12 and 9! The first we were taught was NOT to use Johnson &Johnson baby oil. It is a mineral oil (synthetic and a by-product from petroleum/paraffin oil just with scent added!!) and this oil is not only harmful but actually fights against what you want to achieve with a massage. We used grape-seed or almond oil and we massaged babies from age 3 weeks upwards. See http://www.iaim.org.uk/who_oils.htm#cautions

Cooking oil is fine, buy cold-pressed extra virgin. I have used it before too for my son's massage tho I have now switched to some Indian oils.

I can also second Johnson and Johnsons baby oil. Olive oil may be a bit to heavy on baby skin Olive oil is beautiful on baby skin. I'm not a fan of Johnson's products. ;)
