Need to buy a pump which will help me pump daily at work and once in the morning before i leave for the office. I have used the medela mini electric breast pump for my older child but the pump is in very bad shape. Can you please suggest something reasonably priced and good for using atleast 1-2 times daily and which will last me for at least 6 months. I have heard the medela swing is good but any opionions are most welcome please. TIA...

I actually bought 2 kinds, the harmony which is manual and the swing which is electrical. If you want you can buy the manual pump from me as i just used it for couple of days. You can try using it first if it works on you. If not i can sell the swing to you as well, both are used for a very short time as i was struggling with my schedule and all. if you dont want to try manual anymore il be willing to sell to you the swing electric pump. its still in a good condition with box and all stuff complete. Its fairly new, i just bought it feb this year. You can message me if you're interested, im willing to sell it for a fair price. Its a good brand i would say, and highly recommended by some hospitals here just like where i delivered they used medela brand. Regarding with the swing, its pretty good coz you wont even notice that the bottle is already full and its very User friendly and convenient. You can adjust if you want a faster Speed and a Harder pull. You Will know once you have it. ;) best of luck and Godbless! edited by boysenberry on 13/04/2013 edited by boysenberry on 13/04/2013

Ameda Lactaline dual electric was the best for me, I've posted on another thread about it, it's one of the top rated pumps, and for only 800dhs as opposed to more expensive ones like Avent. I have a Medela Swing and it has been fantastic. I have used it for two children and with my last I used it A LOT. He was premature and I was pumping three hourly day and night! Its small, convenient and very easy to use. We even had a power failure one night and I panicked wondering how I was going to feed my baby (reflux and attachment issues), then I remembered it also took batteries which was just another plus for this little machine. I would highly recommend the Medela Swing! Congratulations on your pregnancy and all the best for the birth :)

I have the Avent single electric, I wish I'd had a double though as LO had problems latching so I was pumping round the clock for the first five weeks and it seemed like one long pump/feed/sterilize/pump mission. The Avent is still working OK after 6 months although I only use it occasionally now but the charger stopped working after 3 months so I can only use it with the battery pack. I think I would go for the Medela next time around. I agree it's worth getting the best you can afford to save yourself time and hassle in the long run.

Hi, Glad to see this thread as was going to ask a similar question myself. Been checking out breast pumps, but no real idea what to look for. Am able to BF, but want a pump for those times when I go out and leave DS with someone, or want to have a drink and still give him BM. Looked at the Avent, Medela and the new Mothercare Innosense one. Has anyone had any experience with the Innosense? Like the price and the sales pitch, but don't really know if it's worth it. TIA, Philly

I have heard good things about Ameda pumps, but have no experience with them. My pump is compact enough to take back and forth between the office. It has a cooler bag that fits with all the accessories in the pump bag which is nice. It's about the size of a small laptop bag. I think the Medela I have sells for around $200 or a little more in the States. Worth every penny if you consider the cost of formula (not to mention the health disadvantages to baby and yourself). I pump for 20 minutes plus a few minutes to set up and clean up after. I've always taken awhile to pump, though, and have friends who can easily pump in 15 minutes with the same model.

hi, with my older child previously i was pumping in the rest room with batteries. But now i have my own cabin, so i will be pumping in my cabin at work with electric outlet available, So with the Pump in style, how long does it take you to pump in total? And do you remember how much you bought it for in the US? Is it easy to carry around? I heard from someone that the Ameda Lactaline Dual Electric Pump is also very good, do you have any idea on that?

The swing is a single electric pump. If you are working and pumping multiple times each day, its best to invest in a double pump. You'll spend 40 minutes pumping, give or take, with a single versus half that with a double. I believe the Swing also is only electric. Do you know if the place you pump at work will have an outlet? (I do not, so need a battery pack for my pump.) I'm using the Medela Pump in Style Advanced and have for my two kids. I purchased it in the States, so no clue if the same model/name is offered here in Dubai. It is a step down from the Freestyle which is quite pricy but I have seen advertised here.
