I'm asking on behalf of a friend - can you please tell me Dr's who will perform a termination (on the basis of threat to the life of the mother)?

:( TIA

Manubhadauria, I'm so sorry to hear your news. It's a horrible thing to go through but look after yourself and get lots of cuddles from your DH x

manubhadauria I'm so so sorry to hear about your m/c. My first ended the same way, with a d & c too and it was such a difficult time. I also had 2 sisters that were pregnant that were further on than me and my younger sister fell pregnant 2 months later. I was devastated by it all. As you know from previous conversations on here, it took me a year to concieve again but I did get there and with Dr Nirmala so have faith. Our little angels just weren't meant for this world. It wasn;t their time. It will take time to get over this and it is difficult. I still think about the one i lost and how things would be now if it hadn't ended that way, but each day gets easier. sending love and hugs xxxxx

your doc said a very nice thing MuMi... there is a saying in my mothertongue (hindi) which roughly translates as " whatever is written in you destiny will happen, you can't run from that" so its better to accept then to curse. Afterall all is God's will. edited by manubhadauria on 19/04/2011

Enigma1979, I have been living with PCOS for many years. It was nearly impossible for me to lose weight and all. Also have Hypothyroid. I had an IUI done and gave birth to a healthy baby boy after an uneventful pregnancy. Tried for more than 7 years for a baby. The only mantra is to relax and stay positive. Miracles are always happening and there's no reason why one should not happen with you. I was admitted in my 5th month of pregnancy with threatened miscarriage. The scans showed a 6 cm blood clot in my uterus which was more like my placenta detatching itself. My doc told me to have faith and just pray. She said " If God has given life, He will sustain it" and I lived with that for the rest of my pregnancy. Just be positive and strong. Be strong and tell yourself that

no i don't mind sharing.we are in the same boat enigma but DO NOT be tensed...don't have any negative thoughts coz they are connected directly to the baby. if you are stressed or exhausted that's harmful for your baby.i know as i have gone through this that it is easier said then done.but you have to be strong and make an effort for the life which is inside you. tension increases hormone levels which are not good in pregnancy so you have to make an effort yourself. people can only tell you. try alternative therapies if you are tensed. for me hymns and chants were soothing. you can try meditation or any hobby which you thought of doing but never got chance. and i noticed when i am alone i think alotand all negative thoughts. i don't watch tv so in these days i use to only switch on tv regardless of what is coming so that my mind don't start running, being a housewife doesn't help either :) as my doctor was monitoring my cycle so my pregnancy was discovered early in 4 week. but in 6 week scan development was not much...by 8 week there was no development. It happens with the PCOS. If you have any inhibitions consult your gynae. do not hesitate. and i wish u all luck. and big hugs to u :) edited by manubhadauria on 19/04/2011

Better go and see any good obs. If she has previous complications and is married and has kids then it's only unto doctor to decide whether pregnancy is harmful or not. Then it Can be terminated. Hurry then at least you have option of going home for termination. And here I am scheduled for d&c for sat coz my baby has stopped growing :( Extremely sorry to hear of this , hang in there , theres always next time , i know its easier said then done but then again we dont really have a choice.

If it's for medical reasons, then the usual 12 week deadline can be extended (up to 20, I think)... although I wouldn't wish it on anyone. :(

I am so sorry manubhadauria and jojobaaklini :( I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you and what you're going through right now. I will let me friend know to go find any OB she can in a short time frame - otherwise she'll head home, thankfully she has some time.

Thats ok, I stand corrected. A midwife and a doctor in Abu Dhabi both told me it was impossible, but then again is anything impossible in this country? Perhaps AD is different? It's a little stricter... This was a Dubai Dr I was talking about.

KKS I do know for certain that it is possible to have a termination here on the basis of medical grounds related to the danger to the life of the mother (have spoken about this topic with an OB here in Dubai - unfortunately one who is difficult to get appt's with). She is married, she has had previous pregnancies and has been told that it is not safe to have any further pregnancies - unfortunately, accidents happen. :( Was just hoping for a contact to give her... will send her via the GP route to start with. Thanks

I have it on good authority that it is impossible to be done here. Your friend needs to get on a plane and fast.

if there is a medical reason for it, then I think drs here are allowed to perform it. Your friend should see her Dr who will confirm that she is in mortal danger due to the pregnancy and take it from there. If on the other hand the threat to the life of the mother is verbal, and there is no actual medical emergency, then her best bet would be to go abroad for the procedure, as voluntary termination is very, very illegal here. Some may advise taking a concoction of contraceptive pills to do the job, but I would strongly advise against that. Far better for her to get to a safe place and have it done under medical supervision. Best of luck to her, regardless.
