Hey all... bare with me as this may be a long one. I just need somewhere to post this and hopefully get some reassuring stories back!

Ok here goes. I had a petty horiffic tubal/ectopic back in August. 9 cm mass of internal bleeding and whole fallopian ruptured. Was in hospital for a week, and if i'm going to be honest still not 100% emotionally and physically. Although WAY better than I was.

Anyway - during the op my surgeon noticed that my left tube (only remaining tube now) seemed to be "stuck" so she referred us staright to Conceive in Sharjah

We've had 2 appointments there now where he's since discovered I have polysystic.

I've had the HSG dye test and the left tube is clear on the inside.

Now this is where I'm confused:
I am having periods (although on a 34 day cycle which he is saying is "too" long)
My insulin levels are fine from blood test

But he still wants to put me on metformin.

He's said to try naturally for 3 months but there is a risk of another ectopic as the tube may still be stuck.

He's also said to go in on 10th day of cycle and have an induced ovulation. I don't understand why as I am getting a period which means I'm ovulating right?

Then if we dont get preggers naturally after 3 months he's saying to have IVF.

I just don't know what to do. I know you ladies can't tell me what is best either but I just needed to get this all down.

Should we not even risk another ectopic? Should we try for longer than 3 months. My poor husband - it's all I talk about :(

xx

Thank you ladies My surgeon said that when she was operating the other fallopian seemed to be "stuck down" - she could have flicked out (seems bizarre to me) but couldn't risk me losing anymore blood during the operation. I'm going to go see another gyne this week I think - just to really work out what's best! Thank you so much for you support. xxx edited by StrawberryPenguin on 26/12/2011

I have a a history of fibroids & cysts, both my fallopian tubes are badly scarred. In 2002 I lost one tube due to what was at the time said to be a ruptured cyst, current gyn thinks it was an ectopic, either way, I had emg surgery and lost that tube. I had a baby in 2006, and a surgery to remove uterine fibroids 6 months after. I still managed to conceieve and give birth to another child in 2009. Dont get scared by the picture you are looking at, many people are able to go the natrual route, and if you cant then IVF is another option. Im a mess inside and it was no issue other then very difficult pregnancies. Make sure you eat right, exercise and try to be as healthy as you can. Im not sure I ever got over my ruptured cyst/ectopic, it was so scary and extremely painful :( You must talk to people about it and not bottle it all inside. Edit to add: My remaining tube is completely stuck to the outside of my uterus, is this what your doctor is saying when he says your tube is stuck? They didnt "unstick" mine in my surgery because they didnt want to damage the tube. Good luck and baby dust to you :) edited by Purple on 26/12/2011

StrawberryPenguin, I'm currently going through my long journey of TTC... so I might just answer a few of ur questions. As I understand he's just following the known procedure where he's giving you a time to ty to concieve on your own first then try IUI then IVF. The induction is to increase the number of eggs of the cycle and so increases ur chances of concieving - if you ask me this can be a risk of ectopic in your case.I think IVF is your safest option I suggest you take another opinion and ask the doc everything you need to know in detail. I wish you all the best xx

awwww... hang in there sweets... i'm sure it'll happen for u soon enough! If you have a longer cycle, such as 34 days, ovulation is likely to begin about 20 days after your last period began... so ensure that during that week you have *** at least three times... this will increase your chances of 'natural conception'... Even though you have lost one of your tubes, you can still become pregnant without the help of fertility procedures as long as your other tube is normal. However, if your first ectopic pregnancy was the result of damage to the tube from an infection, tubal ligation, or DES exposure, there's a greater chance that the other tube is damaged as well. This may reduce your chances of conceiving and increase your chances of another ectopic pregnancy. If you're unable to conceive naturally because of damaged tubes, you're likely to be an excellent candidate for fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF)! but I guess... to save urself the expensive procedure of IVF try for natural :) all the best... sending lots of baby dust ur way!
