The water here is not 100% safe for baby I guess, any recommendation? I am bathing my baby with mineral water for hair and body just the tap water?

Thanks tru blu! I think you're referring to Blu (same as your name)? :-) we actually bought one air purifier & they're also selling the shower filter, we didn't buy one as it is quite expensive around 300 plus? But i guess it will really be a great thing. Will check it again & will see if it will be an alternative for our son. Thanks! Correct, it is BLU. I was there today. I am not sure how well they work but I do feel a difference, even with my own hair. They have a nice smell from the vitmain C tab that you put in them too.

mommyjulz, try not to worry too much about this, your baby is tougher than you think. My son is 4y now, i only used tap water from the moment i brought him home from the hospital without any problems whatsoever! Honestly, don't bother about buying anything: shower filter, special gadgets....No need. I'll tell you what, if you're still not convinced bathe your baby with tap water for a week and observe if all is well problem solved :)

I sometimes worry about the water here in Dubai. I live in JBR and at times the water has come out of the taps brown and yellow!!!!! ewhhhhhh I purchased shower filters from a little kiosk at Ibn Batutta about 6 months ago and they seem to make a difference. Can't remember the name sorry.

Hi there ladies! As i said, I am a very open and cool mum too like you guys! No need to apologies though. You all have the right to post whatever you want to say, otherwise, it's really pointless to have a thread without any comments right?! :-) It's alright girls... I am not that sensitive, I owe some in EW forum, coz in here i found now a place to move in and some ideas on being a mum! :-) God bless and have a great weekend mum! I too, wanted to stay home only soon

Julz, please accept my apology. It was very wrong of me to have a laugh at your expense. I too have been a first time mum and I know just how you feel, so I should have known better then to add my silly reply. The last thing I would want to do is stop you from posting any further questions you may have beside of some silly posts. Babies are SO SO precious and we have every right to want to give then the best. But yes, the tap water is safe.

we mummies sometimes get a bit silly :). It's called Mash Potatoe Brain with a little but of seasoning! How else are we going to stay sane :D mommyjulz - i once posted a thread about "how much laundry are mummies doing once their babies arrive"...before my DD arrived! I got some serious replies, and some "not-so-serious" replies ;) Now, when i read the thread again, i am laughing at myself - what was i thinking!?!? Seemed like a serious question at the time :D

Sorry if my reply didn't come across as serious - I really meant it to be serious and was trying to be helpful - I understand how difficult it is a first-time (and second-time, believe me!) mum. If you're in Dubai, where the water is deemed to be safe to drink (unlike where I live), then as I said, I really wouldn't worry about using it for bathing baby. Even when baby is big enough to be drinking bathwater by accident (or design if he's my son LOL), Dubai water should be fine. xx edited by BFC on 13/01/2011

Oh mommy julz please dont mind us...we are just a bunch of silly women with absolutely no life but our babies and e Expatwoman... To be honest what I did until baby's umbilical stump fell off, I boiled water from the tap and let it cool and just reheated it a few seconds before using it.

Thanks a lot girls for all your reply! It seems my thread became funny then. I am a first time mom so I am very careful about my baby. I have some friends who used mineral water for bathing their baby only for teh head and that's the cheap mineral wherein you buy in gallons not in liter size. I am pertaining about Dubai in particular. Thanks Shaf for your SERIOUS reply! But of course to some ladies who commented funny stuff, it's alright, this is a thread and everybody has the right to comment / and share their own opinion, with or without sense! :-) Bonne Journee everyone!

To the OP - this has got a little mean - I'd say you are a lovely mummy to think this hard about how to care for your child. Do what feels right to you and ignore the negative p-takers!

Mommyjulz, you don't mention where you live (this forum covers the whole region) - that might make a difference. In the UAE, for example, tap water is drinkable (apparently) in some cities so I wouldn't hesitate to use it for baby bathing. In other places it is most definitely not drinkable - I suppose I might be a bit more hesitant to use it for baby bathing, but shouldn't really be a problem while still they're still little as they aren't likely to drink any by accident (or design LOL).

this isn't a serious thread, for sure its not, no way. if it is, errr my apologies, not making fun, really, but which water??? really? Honestly, just shocked. Use the water that comes out of the tap. Its perfectly fine and safe for bathing/hair washing. Why would you think its not? I'm sure using mineral water would be worse for your baby as you must let them get a little 'tough'. Otherwise everything little thing is going to make them ill.

I always wanted to bathe my son in milk.. lol! Never got to it. I just use regular water from the taps. U can buy a water filter some Carrefour if u r so concerned about the water. I mean, how long can u use mineral water for? Plus, i am thinking u'll have to warm it each time u need to use it?
