Residents in the UAE can anticipate a closer holiday this month

It was just predicted that the next public holiday in the UAE might be closer than residents have thought.

The birthday of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) will most probably fall on November 20 this year – this, of course, depends on the sighting of the moon as it is based on the Islamic calendar.

However, the UAE public holiday has been moved from November the 20th to November the 18th - giving residents in the UAE a long weekend that will extend to Sunday. Work and schools will resume as normal on Monday the 19th.

Prophet Mohammad’s birthday is usually celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal in the Islamic calendar.

Muslims around the world refer to the Prophet Mohammad’s birthday as Eid Al Mawlid an Nabawi.

The public holiday was announced yesterday to give residents a long weekend, however, it was not made as per the moon-sighting.

Residents in the UAE can also expect an even longer public holiday that will coincide with the UAE Commemoration Day and UAE National Day at the end of November and beginning of December.
